Oaky, thanks, gotcha. I was thinking of las Vegas, where I was staying at the venue. I can see how having to get to the venue adds another whole wrinkle. I guess for me, (a wee bit OCD) I would plan to arrive at the venue early to circumvent the traffic and parking problems, but wait to actually get to the door till later. Maybe the interim would be a good time to stalk the trucks? Hotel venues are THE BEST!!

Hello, all. Babs12 and I are back from our Detroit/Toronto1 trip (well I'm home in Pittsburgh; she is still driving to Louisville). So hot were we after being in the front row in Detroit (You did see Adam had his full thrusters in action on FBGs?) and from Section 108 in Toronto (thx, borneobert), a stop at Niagara Falls with a ride on Maid of the Mist was required so we could cool down!!!
Detroit was like nothing else. We met some really nice Adam fans wearing tiaras (one had made a t-shirt that had lights on the front and "I heart the new guy" on the back. These were not OTT crazies, but really nice ladies. Sandysva came over from Section C to take a photo of us so we would later have physical proof we had been there--really. The security guard told me he had never seen anybody enjoy any concert as much as we did--"you worked harder than the band did."
We also saw Shadow and Seashell and we were on the opposite side from momtomany, and we can attest to her full enjoyment of the show from the stage--that is when we could take our eyes off Adam who was less than 10 feet away from us at times and up close and personal with momtomany several times. She showed extreme restraint by not touching him, content with devouring him with her rapt expression. Babs12 and I showed equal fortitude by resisting climbing over the barrier and asking the security guard to give us a leg up onto the stage. In fact we were right where the couch was stored underneath the stage, and if we had timed it right, we could have used it as a jumping off point . (In such a state of grinning and rapture after the show, the stage crew had to tell us to watch out while we saw the couch go by to get loaded for Toronto.)
Babs12 talked with an older Queen fan (male) who had not seen Adam before and he was suitably impressed with Adam, but he was there to see Brian one last time. The ability to see all the facial expressions, body language and experience Adam's full on performance aura made my heart sing and I felt so supernaturally alive--perhaps it was because the bass was acting like a pacemaker? No, it was definitely Adam. Adam and his singing actually change the arrangement of molecules and perhaps DNA in my body. It's a shared euphoria, but targeted on the performance. Sandysva said she got a couple of his straight on laser-beam eye contact looks during the performance. They truly want to share the joy. I also noticed that Rufus is warming up to the spotlight more and Roger is one proud papa. Roger shoed a lot more energy on stage, and the entire band blossoms when they get to interact with Adam, no matter how long or instantaneous it is. At times the guys are all like mischievous little boys up there.
Brian is an ironman. A couple of times I noticed him take his fret hand off the neck of the guitar and hold it by his side and work out some stiffness or restore circulation or something. Not obvious, but we were right there--he did it without ever taking his eyes off Adam or the crowd. Aside: As a sports enthusiast, I wondered if Dr. Bri has to ice down his hands/arms like baseball pitchers do after a game? Whatever regimen he uses works miracles!
On to Toronto. We'll, we knew that Germany had won the World Cup as there was dancing in the streets and horns blaring as we walked to the venue. Toronto is Queen territory (now I'm Captain Obvious). Our section was filled with Queen fans, aficionados, and Freddie devotees/worshippers. Thought of Cassie and Angelina because the woman behind us was an opera singer. We thought she could/would appreciate Adam's training. Not so much. What she said afterward was that he was ok, but Freddie's voice did something to her inside. I guess that's fair, because I experience a physical reaction to Adam's voice. After being in the front row in Detroit with many Glamberts, the Queen crowd seemed a little staid at first--at least in our section. The man and wife next to me had watched Adam on Idol and liked his voice and stage presence. He had bought tickets for his daughters 19, 21 who were seated elsewhere. Well, Babs and I got up and danced, cheered, etc. after warning those around us. There was some minor grumbling by a few in the crowd near us, who somehow expected Adam to be Freddie. Of course these people hear Freddie's versions of the songs in their heads from rabid listening and experiencing Queen concerts in earlier eras. So any deviation seems like a jarring.difference.
However, Babs and I conducted a little experiment and sat down after somebody to Love, WWTLF, and TSMGO, and even the grumblers who were mostly not standing during the songs charged/leapt to their feet with spontaneous standing O 's. The guy next to me is a real concert fan (he loves Bono almost as much as rihannasu). He said apples and oranges in comparing the two, but the sheer energy and spectacle plus the fine musicianship really sparked his enjoyment of Queen with Adam. He was totally enamored with Adam's ballad voice. The entire crowd went wild after Adam's tour de force third lung note in STL. I mean riotous. I mean stupefied. I mean shaking their heads in amazement while clapping with arms raised. They really loved KQ antics. Roger was doing little "skip steps happy dance feet" on his way to the "b" stage each time.
It is risky to do the video of days of our lives with Queen super fans. On the one hand, Adam has just won them over. On the other hand, the vids remind them of the Queen (and their own) glory days, and the mood changes drastically. It takes a while to rebuild. For many the vids are a true emotional wallop.
What a couple of days.
I'll repost in the concert threads.
Thanks to all the Atop lovelies who joined us in our four concert frenzy. Much joy to those who get to experience the east coast dates! Aprilmarie, I'll be joining you in spirit in Philly. Thanks for listening!

Hi, I'm back from a long and amazing weekend in Detroit and Toronto and posted some of my impressions in the Toronto thread. I'm an avid people-watcher, so they are actually mostly impressions of some of the people sitting around my husband and me. These were my last two Q+A concerts, so I'm quite sad they are over but grateful that I had the experience. I'm also grateful to all the Adam and Queen fans who have been sharing their astounding pictures and videos. My husband tried taking video at the Toronto show, where we had our closest seats. He had asked the very sweet venue guard by our section if he thought his very small video camera would be allowed, and the man said he didn't think it would be a problem. Security had other ideas, though, lol! Anyway, thank you again to those of you who have been sharing your thoughts, pictures and videos! adamtopia.com/thread/2419/13-concert-thread-toronto-canada?page=22&scrollTo=520176
