Bringing this over from the Mohegan thread.
"
men men men I can't hear ya motherfuckers..." -Adam at Mohegan via Seoulmate (Perfection. I Laughed so hard)
"
Why don't guys sing along? ... Adam usually is singing in his mid range which is higher than most men can sing. ... Or maybe the guys are too cool to sing along?" - Cassie (Yes, I've noticed too)
Wow, Adam thoroughly tested the men vs. women responding during call and response at Mohegan. Go Adam!! It looked like the (hetero Queen fan) men are willing to clap for adam and HUGE numbers did just that at Mohegan, but they are far less likely to respond in call and response. (my professional opinion ; ), #$*$#@
reptile brain syndrome) But, bravo to the seriously awesome and evolved hetero men who do respond. We love you!!
I confess I am interested in vocal pitch and biological and social response... Ignore the rest of this post if this kind of thing bores you.
Most already know that Margaret Thatcher had to get voice training at the renowned Royal National Theater to help lower her pitch to have more authority. Also interesting, while speaking in her lower voice, she had no smile. Unfortunately, biology has even women preferring LEADERS with lower pitch voices which does not bode well for any long term goals of global equality for women in leadership positions. However, now that some of men's technologies are actually destroying the planet there seems to be an increasing shift and some acknowledgment of the need for respect of the feminine at least in some parts of the world.
One also has to ask how lowering one's innate voice pitch effects one's sense of self, freedom, and joy. One must never sacrifice joy and spontaneity of the true self!
Entertainment is obviously different than political leadership. But my guess is that for (straight, not sure about gay) men, biologically, everything is still about pecking order.
Voice pitch and leadership:

"One of Thatcher’s most efficacious speech techniques was the ‘’puzzle-solution’’. The speaker propounds a riddle to the audience, after which the riddle is solved with a clever and well found resolution. The art is to make your solution amaze and surprise your audience. It was because of this technique that Thatcher was able to gain sympathy despite of her humorless, pigheaded reputation. A good example of this is shown in the video on the following page:

www.thejuryexpert.com/2012/03/vocal-pitch-in-the-courtroom/ The power of pitch in business and politics: "Lower pitch, it turns out, pays quite a lot: A decrease of 25% in voice pitch (22.1 Hz) is associated with
an increase of $187.000 in annual salary. Moreover, CEOS with deeper voices also enjoy
longer tenures.[1] Earlier research on US-presidential elections from 1960 until 2000 already found that
candidates with lower voice frequencies won the popular vote in all elections.[3]"

Heterosexual men in general are attracted to higher pitch voices in women and younger looking features. For Heterosexual men it seems attraction and leadership respect are polar opposites. Generally, biologically, it seems heterosexual men do not want women with leadership skills ; ) So sad. More women leaders are desperately needed to achieve ecological balance in this world. But there's a serious revolution going on and growing bigger every day. Change is a comin'.
