I was at IZOD and it was a little scary because someone could have been seriously hurt. Thankfully the crew guys were able to save the moment. No one anticipates mistakes like this, and thankfully it was the only major mishap of the tour. I'd say Adam's mic not working opening of opening night was major. But he is such a performance pro, handled it perfectly! Must have been a "moment" for them all though and not in a good way! Yes that was unfortunate. But all I'm simply saying, having worked as a stage manager for many years, that a curtain not coming down properly is much more prone to personal injury than a mic not working.

I loved the major curtain screw up at IZOD! It made me giggle how they had to just keep going. Made me wonder what they would do if they couldn't get the last 2 attachments off! TALC moved away from the curtain problem(which is nice for the vid,) but it lasted a bit & we could see it on the stream (or maybe it was an IG!) i WAS feeling sorry for the guys trying to get the damn thing down though! It looked like they were wrestling a snake on the stage. The funny thing is that about 30 minutes before it happened, one of the two production guys responsible for the curtain rigging, told me about how Adam messed up the cue at MSG. Then the curtain effect was messed up because the rigging didn't release. Karma is a bitch!

I spoke to the lead production person about the kabuki curtain cue and was told the cue is the word THERE.... Here I stand (echo) Look around around around (echo) But you won't see me (echo)
Now I'm here, (echo) Now I'm there, (echo) The word there is the cue for the production team to pull the curtain I'm just a... (echo) The curtain flies away during this line
Just a new man The curtain should be gone Yes you made me live again
This did not always happen like this...LA was right. MSG, IZOD and a few others were not. (IZOD is the concert where the curtain did not release properly and had to be rolled up and dragged off the stage. MSG Adam sang the lyrics wrong and confused the crew -- I do not think the audience had a clue there was an issue. Q3--I don't want to linger on the negative, and I really don't care about the occasional fuck-up (rock'n'roll, baby), but you've mentioned this last bit a number of times. I've watched video of the MSG opening repeatedly and I have no clue what you're talking about! I'm no expert, but as far as I can tell, Adam sings the lyrics exactly as you've written them above. The echo-effect was maybe a bit aggressive in NYC, but otherwise...what am I missing? Here's the MSG opening cued to where the lyrics begin: Yeah miswifespal I hear Adam sing the lyrics that way also. They had a lot of echoing at MSG maybe that was the problem.

Adam sang the echo in NY on top of the echo effect -- and it was a change that confused the crew because he sang the "Now I'm here" line twice -- on top of the echo. He did it again on the "there" lines. That is why the echo effect is so "aggressive" in MSG. To the audience it would not have been noticeable -- but to the crew it mattered. The curtain timing was off a bit and it was the opening of the MSG show. The crew are perfectionists (as they should be) and they worked really hard to do a very complex production perfectly. But they also like the little glitches.

Adam usually starts at the 10-11th second of the guitar intro and at MSG he was a little bit late... like 5 seconds late... he started around the 17th second of BM's guitar intro....

If he sang it twice, with the echoes, we'd hear it 4 times and we don't. I just watched the intro to several other shows and it is exactly the same! Me thinks the crew screwed up! Or the echo WAS so aggressive they thought Adam sang it twice!

I don't hear any awkward repetition (or any repetition at all, for that matter), and the timing of the curtain lift (in addition to Adam's timing) seems perfect to me. Also, if you ask me (which I guess nobody did ) it is something of a breach in "perfectionism" (among other things) for a crew member to bitch about a performer to a random fan, but whatevs. no harm no foul, I guess.
