Hump Day With Adam Lambert: Home
by snicks | August 6, 2014
On this week’s Hump Day with Adam Lambert, Adam heads back to L.A. before heading to Asia and Down Under.
The Australian leg of the Queen/Adam tour begins in Perth on August 22 (and they’ll be performing a couple of dates in Asia before then), so Adam is in L.A. for now, hopefully getting some rest and recuperation (although knowing what a whirling dervish he is, it’s unlikely that he’s stopped at all).
Oh, you may be wondering why Hump Day was posted so late today. It’s because this afternoon …
I INTERVIEWED ADAM LAMBERT
Come back Friday for that interview!

Adam Lambert Addresses Cultural Appropriation In Music:
“This Whole Debate Is So 20 Years Ago!”
Bradley Stern Aug 6th, 2014
When it comes to the cultural appropriation debate, Adam Lambert stands in favor of celebrating the human race.
Taking a break from sizzling on stage with Queen this summer, Adam logged onto Twitter this afternoon to share his thoughts on a hot topic in pop culture as of late, which has grown in intensity over the past year — from Miley Cyrus‘ controversial 2013 MTV VMAs performance to Iggy Azalea‘s arrival to the main stage.
Like his pop BFF Katy Perry (who’s had her fair share of detractors following the premiere of “This Is How We Do”), Adam doesn’t agree with the criticism. “This whole cultural appropriation debate is so 20 years ago. Our cultures r BLENDING. A new, open minded/hearted generation is on the rise,” Lambert explained in a series of tweets. Check out all of his thoughts after the jump.
“I am so lucky to be part of a circle of fellow artists who are so open and full of love for our respective backgrounds and cultures. There are times I forget (or want to) that there r others that aren’t as integrated or progressive. Our experience isn’t everyone else’s. It’s why we are the artists. We love to reference things we find beautiful or badass. The creative impulse is actually very pure. If we focus on all our differences, we stay segregated. Right? I’m an Idealist though…. That’s my slant. and MY opinion. Everyone has one. If anyone takes offense- I’m sorry. Not ever my intention. But when did we all get so damn sensitive!? Life’s too short! Have fun, be free. As an out and proud Gay man, I see LGBT culture appropriated all over the place! Catch phrases and all! Am I upset? No- I think it’s fab. K I’m off the soapbox. I love us all.”

Adam Lambert on Queen, Touring & Sam Smith
8.5.2014 BY DENNIS HINZMANN
The “Whataya Want From Me” singer just wrapped a 24-city tour in North America with the surviving members of Queen, where he brought their hits into the 21st century with his own Freddie Mercury-esque performance style and glam-rock looks.
In an interview with The Advocate, Adam Lambert spoke about his inspirations from the very band he was on tour with and how today’s generation handles sexuality.
On channeling Freddie Mercury, not imitating him
"I’m Adam onstage. I’m not playing Freddie. I’m not trying to be him. However, he’s so amazing. His recordings and his performances were so incredible that I can’t help but be inspired by them. And on a technical level, I don’t want to move too far away from the music that they’ve created, but I do want to put my own stamp on everything."
About the mixed crowds of Queen loyalists and younger fans of his
“It’s a huge challenge because there’s been a lot of expectation and doubt. You have a mix of people in the audience that are diehard Queen fans, and I have my fans that are coming to the show kind of through me. It’s interesting bringing them all together and seeing how it all plays out."
On why he's happy that Mercury's sexuality is only a side-note in the story of his success
"It doesn’t have to matter whether you’re gay, straight, bi, black, white, whatever, man, woman. That’s not the point. That’s not the thing that’s bringing us together. The thing that’s bringing us together is music. [We're] entering a period of time now where we’re getting towards that post-gay sensibility, which is, so what? But it took a lot of fighting to get there."
On the younger generation's expanding acceptance
"This next generation coming up is like, ‘Hey, it doesn’t fucking matter... My sexuality, doesn’t [determine that] this is the type of music I listen to, or this is the type of activities I’m into, or these are the type of people I hang out with. It’s getting to the point now where we’re more mainstream, and we’re allowed to do anything we want, and we’re allowed to be with anybody we want. So there’s not as much segregation... and I think that’s really exciting, because I don’t think it should matter."
On the LGBT support he's gotten and friends he's made within the industry
"I definitely struck up some friendships with some out musicians that I really respect: Jake Shears from the Scissor Sisters, Sam Sparro. I got to meet Sam Smith in London. He was wonderful. I definitely think there is a certain fraternity there."

1. You must be an Adam fan.
2. You must be respectful of other members. Feel free to express your opinion, but be glitterier and golden.
3. Strive to be funny, entertaining or informative when you post. Avoid posting something that has already been posted.

More rules will be added if the need arises but, if everyone follows these rules, we will not need a lot of rules.
Thank you reihmer!!
For many years reihmer our Confectioner Extraordinaire has bestowed joy and sweetness on Adamtopia with stunning digital cakes for birthdays. Now, because of some real life demands, reihmer needs to pass on the golden whisk!! betty has agreed to continue the tradition but would like to have some help. If you would like to help betty, please send a PM (personal message) to Q3.
To reihmer, all I can say is "thank you" -- and if you want a smile, search Google Images for "Adam Lambert" and scroll a bit -- and yes, you will find images of gorgeous cakes mixed in with Adam photos! I am sure many web searchers have no idea why this happens.
Happy Birthday!!!
