I lived in one house until I was six years old, when our growing family required an upgrade to four bedrooms. As an adult, I saw that my first home was for sale, so, posing as potential buyers my sister and I toured the house. Everything looked so SMALL. Almost dollhouse like as compared to memory. What a shock. I think the same phenomenon is at work for some who "recall" Queen with Freddie in the good old days. They remember Freddie as being playful and interactive with the audience, when, in fact, a review of old films shows that he was standing behind a mic playing guitar in CLTCL or sitting at the piano looking at glasses of beer during STL. It's the passage of time, the power of myth, and the blurred memory of a "better time" in youthful days that makes the legend of Freddie unassailable. I have read a reviewer say that Adam was not playful enough. I also read another reviewer that complained that Adam was too flamboyant. We all see and hear thru our own filters. Except for me, of course. I am totally objective when it comes to Adam F. Lambert! Word!!! I have to disagree. I do not have any lack of memory about Freddie live. Freddie was dynamic live and had a very unusual, very strong connection with the audience -- just not on CLTCL usually -- Caveat: I only saw CLTCL live with Freddie 3 times. And for me Freddie doing STL at the piano was wonderful live. Adam doing his version of STL is wonderful live. Also to be fair to the reviewer, she did not compare Adam's performance of CLTCL to Freddie live, I did. She compared it to the recording. I just went back and listened to the recorded track. Freddie does have really campy, playful vocals on this song. And the music video was his leather boy personna. youtu.be/EE34cSvZCd8For me, I would love Adam to go full out Elvis on CLTCL. So maybe I do get that reviewer's point after all. But the way the set is arranged, CLTCL is in a rock section, and if he was really campy there it might be odd.

EVERYONE sees/hears things in context with their own experiences and expectations. Didn't we just spend a full day trying to organize a list of AI performances? At the end of that day, I would suspect that many still do not agree on the order. I know I don't. There is absolutely nothing wrong with liking one portion of the show more than another. In fact these Perth reviews have been some of the best, most thoughtful that we have seen. Certainly it is clear that these reviewers went in with more open minds that many of the US ones and actually listened to the performance. I will add (JMO here) that I find that the >:( about the FLD language has become more annoying than the one or two sentences in the reviews that one can read and fly past to enjoy the good stuff. You cannot win a fight with a dead man, will never happen. Adam seems to realize this and has tailored his performances accordingly, maybe it is time we do so as well. This collaboration really is a fun and wonderful experience for all of us - relax and enjoy, its not that deep.

Seconded. As I mentioned way late in yesterday's concert thread I found that once I let thinking about this go I enjoyed everything a hell of a lot more- of late the focus on it is more distracting than the comment itself.

I have to total agree - -I just skip right over the "He's not Freddie.", "There is only one Freddie." Of course, I read with joy and relish the articles that say "_______ can't sing like vocal superstar Adam Lambert..."

Q3, can't remember which city, but I remember one reviewer saying Adam's CLTCL was too Elvis & called it karaoke! I am glad he toned down the Elvis in this song! He is definitely playful though ! That, review, IDG! This isn't the first time I have seen Adam's performance or vocal compared to Freddie in a music video! Seems ridiculous! Can you imagine if someone performed FYE or IIHY live, say on a TV show & we all compared it to those amazing music videos?!

I remember this! I have it on my phone for more than a year now and I LOVE this soundcheck. It's amazing to be able to hear Adam's voice without all the instruments - just THE BEAUTIFUL VOICE. And his comments. I would love to have a copy of this, but I didn't see a download button. How do I download it? Where did you get it?
