Just to be fair to the reviewer (who I do not agree with) she compared Adam's performance to the recording, not the music video. The review is in the opening post.

I cannot find any review that says Adam's performance of CLTCL was too Elvis and referred to the performance as Karaoke -- but there are a lot of reviews. Almost all of them are positive and the ones that mention CLTCL are positive about that performances. There are literally a handful of exceptions. I am excluding blogposts by non-reporters.

There was Cory Garcia who reviewed Q+AL for the Houston Press (a minor publication): "Perhaps the best example of things not working is "Crazy Little Thing Called Love," which saw Lambert spend the entire track with a fake lip curl as if he was suddenly auditioning in a role for an Elvis musical. It just doesn't work, and no matter how many times he tried to add his own flair to the show, it rarely worked."

But then there was that strange review from The Star (Toronto #1) "the ’50s-inspired twist “Crazy Little Thing Called Love” (here Lambert missed the chance to exercise his inner Elvis),...."

I think he probably has it about just right for where it is in the concert setlist.

But yes, I would love to see Adam do a full black leather, campy performance of CLTCL. But that does not mean that I think it would have fit into this concert setlist, or was right for this audience, I do not. But if I could have a private Adam concert, it would be on my request list.

Theosgma - hey darlin'! I'm looking for FLAC files for some of the songs that we didn't get in LA or Vegas, like Don't Stop Me Now & Dragon Attack & I Was Born to Love You. I love your suggestion that when the Tour Glitter settles this fall, maybe we can come up with a playlist that includes really good audio for ALL the songs. I've downloaded Butterknife's FLAC files, & I know Dancygeorgia is working on more files, so I'm sure some more goodies will pop up. In the meantime, do you have a link to your FLAC files for Edmonton? I'd sure like to have DSMN on my playlist. Thanks!

Thanks for all your congratulatory messages over my performance for the ice bucket challenge.

Well, I'm full of admiration for the way this campaign was set up …

It really has lit a fire around the world which has spread very quickly - largely, of course, because it's fun, but also everyone, including me, has felt it was a great cause to get behind. A great friend of ours recently died of Lou Gehrig's Disease - Eric Lowen. Some of you may remember the track I recorded with Lynn Carey Saylor for him - and with him - his song We Believe, not long before he died of this horrible, incurable wasting disease; so I had a personal reason for getting involved with ice buckets.

Of course I jumped in and got wet - I like a challenge.

But I'm now in an uncomfortable spot. As a campaigner for animals, every bit of information gets to me.

My contribution to the ALS campaign is already out there, but I now realise that ALS is an experimenter on animals.

Not only on animals .. but apparently, I am told, on primates - which to me is one of the most abhorrent aspects of laboratory animal 'use', and perhaps the hardest to justify.

It's been demonstrated very clearly (for example, by the Hadwen Trust) now that medical results obtained by experiments on animals are not only hideously cruel and morally indefensible, but often dangerously misleading as well (Thalidomide being a prime example). More and more, ways are being found to substitute difference science to supersede the animal-based methods - methods which are also more rigorous and more effective in advancing knowledge towards cures for human illnesses.

So now I have a new challenge - to find my way through that jungle.

ALS's publicists have done incredibly well lighting that fire of awareness. And of course it IS a good cause.

But now I might have to try lighting another fire …

May I just say, though, that unless those women TALKING while he is SINGING ("The Birdcage" reference there) are discussing either an imminent organ transplant or the fact that the building and/or one of their asses is actually, really, at that moment on fire, there is no excuse whatsoever for talking while THAT VOICE is singing. NONE.

I have spent quite a bit of time on the ALS association site and do not see any indication that they support research using primates. Rats and mice , roundworms etc but nothing on on primates. Do they really or is this just some group trying to stir the pot?
