^ Well like I said, it's a dream :D
I think QP-MJ estate will work something out - QP will get one track, MJ estates will get one track and the rest will be forgotten.
As for the album/second world tour I think some of it depends on A3. I think if A3 tanks, than a QAL album is more likely. If A3 is a smash - less likely. It also would depend on what Adam wants to do. If it tanks and he still wants to be a musician QAL becomes a more welcome outlet
I think a second tour will ONLY happen if there is a QAL album.
If not then Q3 is right and it would be special one-offs only.

Wait a minute, where in Talon's dream timeline is the DVD/CD release for this QAL tour? LOL! I did forget that... I'd slide it in around the beginning of the European tour...somewhere around January 2015. I mean I could be wrong, but I think they wouldn't want to release Queen Forever and the QAL DVD/CD TOO close to each other...at least a month apart.. It would be hard to get the Q+AL Tour DVD done for Holiday 2014, particularly because Adam needs to sign off on it. We waited months for Glam Nation Live while Adam reviewed and revised it. GNL was shot in Indianapolis, Indiana at Clowes Hall on August 31st, 2010, it was released almost 7 months later on March 22, 2011. (Adam's Acoustic Live also took a long time to be finalized and released.) My guess is that Q+AL Live DVD will not be released until later -- maybe March 2015. That puts it between Queen Forever (Holiday 2014) and A3's probable release. It also gives Adam time to review it after he has locked down A3. >> I wonder what they will do with Queen Forever if they cannot get Michael Jackson's estate to sign off on the duet tracks? I think they need those two tracks for this album to matter. Personally, I could pass on these duets -- unless they have something that is much better than the demos on YouTube. I would love a few simple ballads with just Freddie on them instead. She dreams!

Sometimes Queen is quick, other times not so much. I know for QPR they recorded on May 9, 2005 and it was released in October 5 months later....Feb would probably be the earliest. I miscounted months when I did it quickly As for Queen Forever..not sure what they will do. I think they kind of painted themselves into a corner by talking to the press about them. If they were to release it without the duets, it would be bad press. *shrug* I have to admit, I'm far more interested in the non-duets myself...

Wow, very nicely written blog. Seems a bit more perceptive than the pro music critics.

However, Adam has been influenced in the last couple of years by Nile and Pharell who didn't let him have so many do-overs. Maybe he wouldn't labor over it as much. (Not sure how much I believe what I just wrote.)

^ Well like I said, it's a dream :D I think QP-MJ estate will work something out - QP will get one track, MJ estates will get one track and the rest will be forgotten. ..... I would not underestimate the complexity of the Michael Jackson estate. It is not neatly managed like some -- including Freddie's. There are executors' for the estate (and their legion of lawyers), there are Katherine Jackson's attorneys, there are other attorneys who represent TJ Jackson co-guardian of Michael's Jackson's 3 children, and there are more parties. I was surprised to read that after talking about releasing these duets for years, then talking about a release for Holiday 2014, Roger said it was not settled. Reading between the lines on this -- it may be that they do not include the MJ-Freddie duets. I think these duets could be a legal snakepit. But I am not sure how much else they have. Reworking Freddie solo releases as Queen songs is really not of interest to me. More importantly, these are songs that Freddie chose to release as a solo artist. As much as I really like "Love Kills", I really am only interested in buying a new Adam + Brian + Roger version. >> I really wish that they would just do a Q + AL album with Adam singing the vocals on some of the demos that they have and never fully recorded. >> The Freddie-MJ duets were never considered finished by either artist. If they are released, I sure hope they are labeled as demo recording vocals. >> I keep reading references to these three duets being done for Thriller, but they were not. Thriller was released on November 30, 1982. The MJ-Freddie recording session was in 1983 after Thriller was released. Freddie and MJ started talking about working together before Thriller -- but there is only one recording session, 6 hours in 1983 at MJ's house. The issue about rights is not new -- it is what was reported last year on more than one occasion, for example.... These tracks have been around for 30 years -- and the idea of releasing the duets has been around since the mid 1990's. Here is a bit more about these duets. From the BBC July 2013.... Michael Jackson and Freddie Mercury duets set for release August 2013 -- report about the duets Part of a news report about about the "llama recordings" with Brian May. youtu.be/BtPef09SMNUThese 3 songs were outtakes from the Michael Jackson Victory album (released in 1984). The album was recorded for Sony/Epic. There were only 8 finished tracks on the album, but there was a long list of outtakes including the three tracks that Freddie and Michael recorded together -- a co-write, a MJ song and a Freddie song. "Victory" (written by Michael Jackson, Freddie Mercury) Unreleased. It became the name of MJs album and tour but the track did not make the album. "There Must Be More To Life Than This" (Later, a solo version by Freddie Mercury was released on Freddie Mercury's Mr. Bad Guy) (written by Freddie Mercury) - so all this new version would be is the duet version. "State Of Shock (Demo has been heard)" (written by Michael Jackson, Randy Hansen) This was a demo version of the song with the same name, but it was recorded with the Freddie Mercury on vocals, instead of the singer of the final version of the song, Mick Jagger. They must have something better than what is on YT -- but here they are: "There Must Be More to Life Than This" Q3: Freddie already released this on Mr. Bad Guy. I can't see that adding MJ would improve it.youtu.be/6y1As3_zruI "State of Shock" Q3: The was already released by MJ and Mick Jagger. It is a MJ song. IMO does not suit Queenification -- at least not by Brian and Roger, maybe by John Deacon who is not involved.State of Shock (Freddie version) youtu.be/x_1c_bevWbIState of Shock (MJ and Freddie version, underlanced) youtu.be/wdCjACNWWOY?list=PLCF95393E17147460

He spent 6 or 7 weeks in studio in Sweden. He spent more time in studio in LA. And he is now headed back into the studio in September 2014. Seems like the same work pattern to me. I am optimistic that he will get A3 done this fall -- finally.

I was surprised to read that after talking about releasing these duets for years, then talking about a release for Holiday 2014, Roger said it was not settled. Agreed that it's tough - it just sounds a bit more positive than it had previously. From some of my inside sources, it's not settled, but traction has been gained. Yeah I don't see that happening if I'm to be honest. What gets me is it kind of depends. Love Kills was originally a Queen song. BEFORE it went to become a Freddie solo track. And in actuality from all reports Roger's programmed drums and some of Brian's work appear on the final Freddie solo version so it's a bit different from just reworking a Freddie solo release...it intially was going to be a Queen track. NOW was it initially a ballad like the rearrangement or are they just taking the disco vocal take and shoehorning it into a new ballad arrangement. The latter is unfortunately probably the case so it's a bit less exciting. Now if they have an alternate ballad vocal take from the vaults, that might be something else! I'd rather them do all new stuff or at least stuff that hasn't been leaked. It'd be weird to have Adam complete vocals on a song I know about and have heard Freddie on... WEEEELLLLL yes and no. See below: Michael Jackson and Freddie Mercury duets set for release August 2013 -- report about the duets There is also a possible (highly unconfirmed) fourth (rarely mentioned by Peter Freestone) Reportedly it's crap What hasn't been leaked and after a quick search I can't find the report but before Michael died Michael was spotted going into a studio with Brian and Roger, spent some time there and then left. It was unclear what was done or what was going on...but this was all with regards to the duets reportedly. So they have Freddie's take, and maybe they had additional ideas from Michael. *shrug* who knows...

Just got home from Melbourne last night! OMFG I can not put into words the experiences of QAL shows. But I will try to come up with a lucid recap later today after work.
Suffice to say that the first show was incredible, but the second show was off the charts. Best concert I have ever seen.... just unbelievable!!! The emotional reaction I had to everything in Saturday's show caught me off guard. I still get teary thinking back about it. Back to reality and work today tho - not sure how I will find the words to answer my colleagues inevitable question "how was the show?" Words are just inadequate!
So thrilled I get to see 2 more shows this week, but I know that won't be enough. There will never be enough. But I'll take it.
I have some quite good pics too which I will share. Should I post my recap & photos in the appropriate concert threads??
