Personally I don't think studio versions of Adam's songs are nearly as good as his live versions. Not sure why that is so, I just know that by in large I tend to listen to the live performances. Same here! I think less production "noise" does it for me. and the visuals that come with live performances ... There is much to be said for not enough budget to have all the bells, whistles, studio electonics, producers, production "enhancements" when doing a live show. The way the sound is balanced when Adam sings live, his voice just floats on top of all the other sound, ringing and bouncing off the walls and ceiling. It is very "present" and real.

Thanks for the answer,Talon. I thought you might not care for that type of music. Generally I don't like it much either I just thought Adam's voice was so sublime on it and it could have been a hit if it had been one of the first chosen.
I agree with everyone, that hearing Adam's voice without all the bells and whistles highlights how great he really is. That's why we all go crazy when he sings acoustically ( wait is that a word?)
IDK, I think whatever happens with his next album Adam has made his mark in the music industry and many people want to work with him. And he's doing it his way. I agree he needs better musicians behind him but that loyalty he has for his friends is just who he is. Liability? Maybe but perhaps not an issue for him.

"Soaked" is a perfect example of why Adam is better without all the production noise. I didn't care for the album version that much. LOVED the live versions--it was one of the videos that I had to watch after each Glam Nation concert.

Still my all time favorite UP for too many reasons to list. One of my favorite performances of QAL ever. Besides how they relate to each other, there is that glorious spot where Adam holds the long note and then slides up higher. Just gave me chills again. That's one of my repeat play-tracks.

I always tell people when "debating" Adam -- You have to hear him live -- EVERYTHING about him fills the room. I don't remember much about Detroit -- it's just a huge blur (was it even real?)but when he walked down the "catwalk" that first time and he was just singing and shimmering in gold it was like, like, like -- I don't even know - like everything.

I love you Adam, I love you Queen, these shows have been absolutely brilliant. But I must confess, oh *red shirt*:

Oh Queen was very rarely received well by critics. It was more of a hindsight thing to be honest. Perhaps the same thing will happen with Adam...although honestly I thought Trespassing got good reviews, just didn't sell (after the first week). Maybe the public will have a hindsight view later on... I'm sure someone has already addressed this as I am just starting the thread now, but the meme that Trespassing didn't sell after the first week is not correct. Did it have the numbers of, or stay on the BB 200 charts as long as FYE? No. But it sold approx. 78,000 copies it's first week and ended up at 185,000 at years end. Well within BB's top 200 selling albums of the year. That is out of tens of thousands of albums released that year. We also have year end world wide sales numbers of 310,000 at year end. Not bad numbers for an album that many people have called a flop.
