Just one more comment on Joan Rivers -- she was out there, bashing down doors for women and the LGBT community starting in the 1950's. Probably forgotten now, but in 1959, she appeared in an off Broadway play, Driftwood, playing a lesbian who had a crush on a character played by a then-unknown Barbra Streisand. Driftwood Garret Theater 49th Street New York, NY Opened January 15, 1959 The Garrett Theater was an attic-like theater space with 40 seats. Driftwood played for six weeks. “I remember throwing up my egg salad sandwich before I went on,” Barbra said. Joan Rivers (in 1959 she was known as Joan Sandra Molinsky) has told the story for years that she and Streisand played lesbian lovers in Driftwood. “It was my idea,” Rivers said. “It was a man’s part and they couldn’t cast it, so I said ‘I’ll do it! Make them lesbians!’ and Barbra was really thrilled.”

This makes me happy too. And also that I can look forward to the Vocal Masterclass write ups and videos. Thanks Cassie I just can't seem to let go. I can't believe that I am following Adam's flight. flightaware.com/live/flight/ANZ2/history/20140905/0930Z/NZAA/KLAX
Do you think there will be anyone there to meet the flight? I mean fans, paps, or family. Hope we get pictures Q3, the information about the play Driftwood (Joan Rivers and Barbara Streisand) was news to me. I learn so much from you. Thanks

I had this one all lined up and ready to go but Betty came through!! It's still cute, though- Brand spanking new here! My first post! So happy to be here. That cartoon is one of the best I've seen, especially Roger and his very persuasive eyes, Brian and John's noses, and Freddie's teeth. That's awesome!

Q3, thanks for the personal insight on Joan Rivers. I love to hear about celebrities who share themselves so graciously and anonymously. I have always envied Joan Rivers (and Betty White) for their amazingly quick wit. And this:
made me laugh and well up. Perfectly put.

I have always envied Joan Rivers (and Betty White) for their amazingly quick wit. And this: made me laugh and well up. Perfectly put. I could fill this whole forum with Joan Rivers stories that never get told. She keep her public persona the brash, bitchy character who was a fashion expert. In reality, she was an extremely smart, really generous person who dealt with a lot of personal and professional challenges and still kept making people laugh. She also was extremely tough, ambitious and aggressive -- many people would have just given up confronted with her husband/manager's health issues, depression and suicide, the awful treatment they got from Fox, the rift with her close friend Johnny Carson, etc. In any case, she was an Adam fan and Adam was a Joan fan. And that makes her a woman with discriminating taste! Of course, "what's not to like?"
