13 Reasons Why I’m Happy Adam was the + in the Queen + Adam Lambert Summer 2014 Tour

The tour is over but the music will live on across the web, spreading from fan-to-fan, and hopefully creating a few new fans. It seems likely that we will eventually get a Queen + Adam Lambert Live DVD documenting the tour and bringing us a 2D version of the 4D experience that was the Queen + Adam Lambert Tour. And as time goes on, my guess is that this tour will become one of those “I wish I would have seen tour.”

As I started to sift through my notes from the Summer of Q+AL and write something coherent about the experience, I realized that my whirlwind experience pales in comparison to what this must have been like for Adam, Brian, Roger and everyone else on this tour. And of everyone involved with this tour, I suspect it was most transformative for Adam.

So here are my 13 reasons why I’m happy Adam was the + (yes the plus, what made it brilliant and shine) in Q+AL. In no particular order…..

1. Adam got worldwide credit for the true talent he is.




2. I got to see Adam perform with a great band and my favorite Rocket Scientist Rock Guitarist – well I think the only Rock Scientist Rock Guitarist.

3. Adam got to wear a diamond encrusted custom coronet. (And I learned the difference between a crown and a coronet. This tour was actually educational!)


4. The Q+AL Tour inspired Adam and I think we will see that influence on A3.




5. Adam proved he can play an instrument. (This one is for all the fans who followed Adam during American Idol Season 8.) Plus we got super cool dance moves!!


6. Adam has finally gotten airplay on classic rock radio stations.




7. Mick Jagger once said he got all his moves from Tina Turner. I guess Mick can’t move anymore because Adam seems to have snatched all of Tina Turner’s moves.


8. Almost every article about the tour included a reference to Adam’s upcoming solo album.




9. Adam proved he is a great entertainer. (OK some of us already knew that.)



10. Over 500,000 (?) people heard Adam live, many for the first time, and most of them will never forget what they heard. (I just guessed at that number, but I am sure that someone has totaled it up. It is big number.  )




11. Millions of women and men around the world have become interested in bike riding.




12. Water fountains around the world are jeal-e-ous!


13. Because of Adam I feel in love with Queen again. I am not alone. He was the + that helped bring back a bit of the glam, sparkle, camp and majesty that was Queen in the days of Camelot. Here is a bit of a review of the Melbourne, AU concert that captured it for me.






Shocking bit of Q3 trivia….

I like numbers and one of the things I did this summer was track my mileage while I trekked around North American to see Queen + Adam Lambert. I just totaled it up and it is a significant number! Just over 24,901 miles (40,075 km). If that number looks a bit familiar, it is the circumference of the earth! (I actually went 9 miles farther - 24,910 miles!)


The Q+AL Once in a Lifetime Tour Project

Now that the epic "once in a lifetime tour" is over, we need to find the absolute best of everything and get it sorted out so it is there in the future. So for starters, we need to finish building the recaps for each of the concerts.

> If you want to help on this project, we need some volunteers to help Tinafea and me wrap it up. It's easy but it requires you to look at a lot of Adam Lambert photos!
