OT but one of the crappy things about living in CA is the poor coat selection. I need a new winter coat for the UK. I have 2 but neither are what I want to take. Going to at least take a look today but I doubt I'll find much here. I almost need to try it on rather than buy something online. I would be happy to send you our coat selection and our snow!! LOL! I miss the coat selection in Ohio. I live winter clothes; just don't like winter weather, but wearing layers is another reason to look forward to this trip, among the many others I have already considered.

If I were you, I would take my least favourite old coat with me and make coat shopping the very first thing on my list of 'to do's' when you arrive. Then I would ditch my old coat as soon as I found one I liked....find a local hostel or homeless shelter and drop it off....win win and you have a great memento of your trip! Have fun....I am so jealous....I have family in Sale [near Manchester] and London but really can't afford the trip :(. But I saw them in Vancouver and it was amazing....

Don't know how fancy or stylish you want to be, but my last two coats ('cause I live in SoCal) have been from REI. The ones in the regular clothing stores just "look good" but not much else.

I am thinking of getting a wool but I will think that over. Thank you!

I've always loved the cape coat because it's less bulky and confining and I can wear layers under it if needed. Some ideas: That is adorable!
