All 135,000 tickets were snapped up in just 25 minutes after going on sale this morning (October 5). 15,000 Coach + Ticket packages were also sold on Wednesday night. "We're humbled by the incredible numbers of people who would like to come to the Festival - and it's clear that demand once again outstripped supply this year," read a statement posted on the Glastonbury homepage. "We're sorry that some of you have missed out, but there will be a resale of returned tickets in the spring (and your registration remains valid for future years). "Thank you all for your never-ending support for our Festival." Festival co-organiser Emily Eavis also took to Twitter to acknowledge those who both succeeded and failed in purchasing their ticket, posting: "We have sold out, thank you to everyone for supporting us and I’m sorry to those of you who have missed out." No line-up announcements have been made for the event – which runs from June 24 to 28 – but Fleetwood Mac are currently the favourites to headline with bookies William Hill. However, the odds on Queen headlining have recently been cut from 20/1 to 14/1. "There are some massive names in the frame but the money suggests Fleetwood Mac are the most likely, although today’s gamble has been for Queen," said William Hill spokesman Rupert Adams.

So I watched this awesome pre-Divas video re-posted yesterday, and listen to what Adam say here, 5 minutes into the interview: www.youtube.com/watch?v=HuYo4y2H1ns#t=301Straight from the horse's mouth, meeting Madonna and then singing Ray Of Light at the VH1 Divas Live WAS a "weird" Full-Circle Moment. Thus, I had to somehow insert it into my chart! Finding out the end point's date was easy - December 16, 2012. But how could we figure out the date they met? There were multiple interviews with Adam talking about this a year later. He said in a 2010 interview "last year right after Idol". So I found a report from June 17 on Digital Spy quoting People from June 16th about him being star-struck etc, but it was all based on the Rolling Stone Wild Idol interview released on June 8th. The Idol Finale was on May 20th, and on May 28th Adam and Kris played in New York City. So I had to assume that the Madonna Encounter was sometime that week. I have put ~May 27th in the v04 of the chart, and calculated the days until the Diva performance to be approx. 1299. I feel this assumption is +/-3 days off in the worst case, but I could be wrong. If anyone has better ideas or sources, please let me know! I remember an interview that was post Idol and pre-Glamnation or just after Glamnation Tour started that his former Guitarist took Adam to meet Madonna. Adam's former guitarist played for Madonna on a regular basis on various recordings and projects as well as the Drowned World Tour (from MP's wiki page). Anyway, have been searching for the date when the conversation about meeting Madonna came up. It was covered in an Atop post somewhere but don't know how to search for it here without the date. It was well before the Divas performance. I have to leave for a while so will resume the search when I get back unless some other ninja finds it first. As I explained, I checked out the original Rolling Stone "Wild Idol" article and it already contained an account about the meeting by Adam himself. The interview was published on June 8th and another online article mentioned the interview already on June 2nd. What is even more interesting is that Adam said in another video interview that Monte told Madonna about Adam being on the cover of the Rolling Stone (which technically wasn't out yet - see above). Finally, Adam mentioned he went to her house in New York, so we needed a period when he was in NYC, making things even easier as we know exactly when he was there end of May... Ninja work is fun!   |
