www.pressparty.com/pg/newsdesk/adamlambert/view/116044/?isworld=yAdam Lambert performs at AT&T Live Proud eventAdam Lambert took to the stage last night (October 13) for a special performance in aid of AT&T's Live Proud campaign. The singer performed at the Highland Ballroom in New York as part of the finale of the project, which inspires the LGBT community to express their pride. The vocal powerhouse ran through a short set alongside acoustic guitar accompaniment, kicking off with a cover of Queen's 'Crazy Little Thing Called Love'. Lambert then took a moment to speak about love, saying: "I think the thing that binds together the LGBT community, the things that defines us, is sexuality. We all just want love, don't we? It's all about love. Or finding other things in the meantime when you're trying to find love, that's cool too. Love is a tough game." The singer also performed tracks like 'Outlaws of Love', a 'Trespassing' and 'Another One Bites The Dust' mash-up and 'Whataya Want From Me'. Q3, the setlist needs a minor correction. Adam did a Trespassing/Another One Bits The Dust medley rather than just AOBTD. YES! It was a great mash-up!

When I heard the live stream some of the chording and harmonies were jarringly different from the originals. They sounded wrong. They were wrong compared to what was written. The final chord of CLTCL did not resolve to the tonic of the key as it should. It just hung out there unfinished. I have listened to the TALC video and concentrated a bit more on what the guitarist is doing and, given his background, I have to assume that the chording he used was not "wrong" but a creative, jazzy alternative done intentionally rather than because he didn't know the actual chords as written in the song. The lack of resolution at the end of CLTCL? Um, I don't think I would go as far as "intentional." More likely, under-rehearsed; he did not expect Adam to end it when he did. But he left the chord unresolved cuz it was funky? The choppy, sometimes abrupt or muddy strumming of the chords could also be intentional rather than due to uncertainty as it sounded on the first listen. He was doing that like Adam does some of his staccato singing of phrases; to make it more funky. After three or four listens, my mind has adapted to the versions of accompaniment and it no longer interferes with my delight with Adam's solo voice. I could very happily listen to Adam sit on a stool and sing to a piano or guitar accompaniment for hours.

Thanks for catching. **** I had to work last night -- very late. So I did not listen to more than a bit of the stream until now. They were not even close to how good he sounded. Just listened to the TALC videos. Two comments: 1. To anyone who posted that "Adam phoned it in" --- that was not phoned in. 2. The guitarist is quite good. I think he was great. Finally, the Trespassing-ABTD mash up needs some arrangement work but I expect we will hear it again. And that could be pretty epic if it was electric. JMHO -- but I think I will avoid live streams in the future.

Well no wonder he sounds good!! He is an excellent guitarist -- and pretty well known in blues and gospel music. Here is an example.... youtu.be/Vr97Hj9kamAETA My resident blues expert says he is well known -- so I changed my post.

I could very happily listen to Adam sit on a stool and sing to a piano or guitar accompaniment for hours. He is a blues guitarist -- so "jazzy" is not really the right term. But CLLTCL is a gospel song and ABTD is a funk song so both are in Sherrod's wheelhouse. They met yesterday, rehearsed once, then performed. I think it was amazingly good. And a vast improvement of Tommy Joe. JMHO and I am sure that others will not agree with me. Setting that aside, [and I think this is really a minor quibble] they got out of sync on the end of CLTCL -- but there is no "ending chord" on CLTCL, it ends with a fade on the repeat on the recording which does not work live. Here is CLTCL (original Queen version, recorded) youtu.be/EE34cSvZCd8In the Q+AL version it ends with the percussion crescendo...which Adam improvised over. I think Adam was intending to do this in the acoustic version but did not quite pull it off. youtu.be/giIhU7X22LM

Didn't Adam change the melody on a song or two also? Which, BTW, I love!

Didn't Adam change the melody on a song or two also? Which, BTW, I love! Yes. He changed CLTCL a bit -- particularly in the repeating section. He changed both Trespassing and AOBTD when he did the mashup -- which I had hoped he would do for a long time -- and which I think has real promise. Still needs some work on the transitions and kind of hard to pull off with no bass. But I am sure it will be back at some point with a full band. > Dream - for Q+AL to do a medley of AOBTD and Trespassing with a Brian-Neil-Adam arrangement. That could be epic. Possible would cause the Queen universe to implode but if there is one Queen song that could be played with, it is probably this one. The rock fans don't likes it, the Freddie loyalists have no ownership of it. And AOBTD is one of Adam's favs and was clearly an inspiration for Trespassing. He "always" changes WWFM but this sounded a lot like a prior version (or 20) he has done. ETA: I also love when he changes up songs and improvises. Last night's versions are great.
