NBC ignored by casting ideas for Peter Pan and lost….
Will FOX be smarter with Grease?
12.5.14 by Q3
You may recall that I recommended that when NBC decided to produce the live TV musical of Peter Pan, I recommended that they embrace the underlying themes of the original play and make Peter a beautiful gay man -- think about it, and Wendy's unrequited love for him and Tinkerbell always flittering around and the Lost Boys and.... They clearly ignored my advice and the ratings were not so good.
Michael Llewelyn Davies at 17, the inspiration for Peter Pan
Now Fox TV is putting together a live TV version of Grease. I am not a huge Grease fan but I can see Adam in this one – as Teen Angel.
Here is a bit more info about Peter Pan – and check out the end!
The Ratings For ‘Peter Pan Live’ Probably Didn’t Soar Quite As High As NBC Had Hoped
By Stacey Ritzen • 12.05.14
The ratings for Peter Pan Live! are in, and how’d they do, Pete Campbell?
Not-great-Bob.
Despite the fact that more than a couple of people noted last night that Twitter was staunchly divided amongst those live-tweeting the NBC musical and police protests, Peter Pan Live! fell way below expectations, with the viewership of last year’s Sound of Music dropping over fifty percent. Ouch. According to Entertainment Weekly:
NBC’s three-hour musical production delivered 9.1 million viewers and a 2.3 adults 18-49 rating, down 51 percent from Sound of Music. While Peter Pan was one of last night’s strongest shows, it still averaged less than a couple sitcoms—CBS’ Mom and Two and a Half Men, both of which had a 2.5 demo rating.
Could this suggest that our long (well, year-long) national nightmare of live televised musicals is over? Or did NBC just pick the wrong one to set a live production to? I mean, a young woman who falls in love with a forever boy? Kinda creepy, you have to admit.
But as far as we know, Fox is still planning on a live adaptation of Grease – although no leads have been picked yet. Which should be easy, duh: Adam Lambert and Hayden Panettiere. DONE. Every mom over the age of sixty in the entire country will watch the hell out of that crap.

Who should sing the Bond theme for Spectre?
Lana Del Rey and Sam Smith are Twitter's favourites, but, we ask, why has nobody considered Mumford and Sons?
By Telegraph Reporters
Queen and Adam Lambert
Lambert is
Shirley Bassey
Dame Shirl's already done three Bond themes (Goldfinger, Diamonds Are Forever and Moonraker) - why not make it four? Her voice still packs a wallop and it would be a fitting comeback given that she sang Diamonds Are Forever, the last Bond flick to feature Blofeld as the main villain.
Mumford and Sons
If there is one thing that all James Bond films lack, it is banjos. And now, surely, is the time to change that. The quintessentially British (see? they're perfect for the job) folk rockers have been quiet since releasing their second album in 2012 and this could be the ideal way to strum up some interest in their return. And don't forget that lead singer Marcus Mumford is married to actress Carey Mulligan, who stars alongside Ben Whishaw next year in a film called Suffragette. Whishaw, lest you need reminding, plays Q in Spectre. It all seems so obvious now.
Lana Del Rey
Her latest hit may have been Born to Die, but Lana Del Rey’s fans are claiming she was born to sing a Bond theme (she's just recoreded two songs for Tim Burton's forthcoming film, Big Eyes). Del Rey’s appeal lies in her doe-eyed vintage glamour, and the New Yorker’s mournful chart-topping ballads are only one key change away from delivering the epic sound worthy of a Bond film score. She already brings the drama – and it might give her the opportunity to cheer up a little.
Kanye West
Inventive pop behemoth Kanye would give the Bond theme the makeover of its life, and no doubt spark a pop cultural viral campaign to accompany it, too - potentially featuring his A-list wife Kim Kardashian and their daughter North. But what would really make West’s theme sing is if he collaborated with Dame Shirley Bassey. They’ve already worked together on Diamonds Are Together, after all.
Lorde
The New Zealand teenager has already proven her film score credentials: she curated the Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 1 soundtrack earlier this year, to which she contributed her own track, Yellow Flicker Beat. But Lorde’s a more interesting Bond prospect off paper: her gothy, sparse pop and gymnastic vocals could contribute to the coolest theme yet. No other contemporary pop artist is as spectral.
Sam Smith
Sam Smith’s big, soulful voice has eclipsed pop music this year, much like Adele’s did in 2012, the year before she lent her roomy pipes to Skyfall’s opening track. Smith and Adele were both recipients of the Brits Critics’ Choice award, in 2013 and 2008, respectively. There’s no doubt he can deliver a fittingly dramatic tune - and send it to the top of the charts to boot.
Janelle Monae
Janelle Monae’s awesome psychedelia-infused blend of RnB might not seem the most natural choice for a Bond theme, but the Kansan composer and singer certainly has the talent to sing a belting tune - and write it, too. Monae could bring some feminism-infused theatrics to the score too, if her empowering song Q.U.E.E.N is anything to go by: fitting for Naomie Harris’s thoroughly modern Miss Moneypenny.
One Direction
Just picture it: five of the UK’s most lusted-after young men, wearing tuxedos, sipping martinis and crooning. Potentially the greatest gift to teenagers worldwide since Beatlemania. 1D have grown up considerably, as shown in their latest album, Four. A grown-up, big band Bond theme will show that Harry, Niall, Louis, Liam and Zayn have put their X Factor roots behind them.
Pharrell
The Bond theme would almost be a step down for Pharrell, who has had his finger in so many massive musical pies – Blurred Lines, Happy, Get Lucky (from the Despicable Me 2 soundtrack) – that he’s a walking hit factory. And yet there’s a kudos to the Bond theme. As brilliant as the traditional Bond balladeer is – at least, when it goes right – someone with Pharrell’s production nous and musicality could really turn up something special if allowed to go nuts and add some beats. That way the last dancey Bond theme, Madonna’s Die Another Day, can finally be hidden away and forgotten.
Idina Menzel
The woman behind one of the most popular film songs in history – Let it Go, last year’s megahit from Frozen – would make this year’s theme a sure-fire global smash. It would be worth it just to watch the internet collapse in on itself at the news. Idina Menzel’s belting voice more than matches that of Shirley Bassey or Adele and anyone who’s seen her perform live can attest that she’s as enigmatic and sultry as she is exhilarating.
