Hard to dispute this because it is true -- Freddie lowered the key on most of the Queen songs when he performed them live: BUT the lower key is what many of the Freddie-era Queen fans do not like about Adam -- the live performances are in a higher key. These are the people who prefer the songs done in a lower key because it was "stronger", more "heavy", and prefer the grittier, rougher rock style that Freddie had. I doubt there will be much reaction to this on Queen sites because they will classify this as Brian hyping the new tour. >> Yes, the same 12 posters will wonder around Queen forums bashing Brian and Adam but that is what they live for. If that is what they want to do, I will just choose to ignore them. *** There is a clear gender divide on the Adam-Freddie vocal preference -- and some of it is biological. Sex differences have been demonstrated in the peripheral auditory system as well as in the associated higher-level cognitive processing. And the differences are most acute in the higher-frequency elements of the audio spectrum -- where Adam is vocally at his best to his fans -- and "screechy" to his detractors. Separate from individual difference there are distinct gender preferences. Many people have noticed this about how some people hear Adam differently. For example, I have never had the "chipmunk" sound experience. There are many gender-related auditory preferences -- Males like louder sounds, can filter out background noise, like distortion, etc. Men prefer Baritone voices/singers. Women like softer, higher, clearer tones. Women prefer Tenors. Women can identify much small changes in frequency and volume. There is a reason why men oooo and ahhhhhh over monster audio cable and the newest, bestest headphone and women are talking about the lyrics. The majority of men can hear things in lower frequencies that women cannot hear. There are many, many other sensory differences between men and women -- for example men are more sensitive to small details and moving objects, while women are more perceptive to color changes/categorization, women have better sensitivity, and discriminated and categorized odors better than males. Gender is just one way to segment how people perceive the world -- but it is one that has been researched extensively. Note: The difference in how males process audio/sound is linked to the higher incidence of hearing issues and language processing learning disabilities in males vs. females. As with every gender divide, it is not absolute. I test this in my lab and it is about 90% gender aligned -- I fall in the 10% that do not fit with the gender category. Also, it is interestingly correlated to birth gender and not to sexual orientation.

This is quite something (UNDERSTATEMENT!) I'm continually amazed at the resources available to us. Now, if I could just get my resources organized...
