I don't book mark many things or save, believe it or not, but he said it in an interview. ETA: i will look for it this evening. Videos keep cutting out on me, on my iPad, so need to use my desk top later! Was a oddly characterized paraphrase of what Brian said? With how intensely Queen Toured I just can't imagine Brian saying that. Those early tours really were grueling and they did not make any money their deal was so awful. (Tour was about selling music in the 70's and they record sales royalties where what artists depended on. Queen unfortunately had such a bad deal that they were selling a ton of music and stilled owed the label money.) If he said it, he must have meant something else. ** Freddie really hacked up his voice from those early touring years -- it started to really damage the quality of his singing from 1978 to 1984. That is why Freddie ended up with vocal nodules. A large part of the Queen live video recordings are from the period when he had vocal issues that is why I am so please we now have the 1974 Rainbow concerts in quality recordings. The other great live recordings are after 1984 -- Freddie never talked about why his voice was so good from 1984 - 1986 but we have recordings. |

Everybody's different but I decided about a week ago that the butt-hurt Freddie fans are dead to me. Makes life easier.

Seems the lucky lady in the pic with Adam was in The Ten Commandments with him. She goes back a ways. Yeah well so does that hand!!  mszue, you win for best comment of the day. I am (literally!) on the floor laughing! |

You know, I don't care whether Adam can sing higher, or tour better or whatever. For me that's the same discussion about what Freddie could do better. They're both incredible performers. I am very very sad that I didn't get to see one of them live. And so amazingly happy that I have seen the other (and will see him again)!
Can we please get back to posting pictures of Adams knee, listing what new songs we would want on the upcoming leg of the tour, reflect on the light that Adam brings, speculate about A3 (there must be more mashed potatoes to be gotten from Adams mysterious IG pics), where Adam is (LA? Or some exotic holiday destination?), find out about Adams place in the current music scene, swoon about his perfect rock n roll hair, anything but 40 year old Queen touring schedules?

Is it possible that Freddie and Queen didn't know how much damage Freddie was doing to his voice with the long shows, multiple shows? When we are young, we think we are invincible.
Adam knows to make sure he hydrates, he varies the demands of the songs, and he takes breaks during a long show. That comes probably from the many years experience and formal training. And perhaps Brian and Roger realize that they need to take care of Adam (they said that in some interview) if they want him to be able to continue to sing as he does in the concerts.
As to Brian saying Freddie couldn't have sung like Adam does 4 times a week, I think that is true, too. It is because Adam is singing correctly, first and foremost, is taking care of his voice, and is mindful of how much he can push it that he is able to sing such notes 4 times a week. But even he had to cut out some of the highest notes towards the second half of the tour. His voice did crack a couple of times on the F#5 at the end of STL.
