Wednesday - Check in Day
What's Your Favorite Helpful Magazine?
I started getting Weight Watchers last year and I really enjoy it. Although sometimes it does have some hints for exercise or best fitting clothes it doesn't have all the makeup and skin care etc etc that just filler up a lot of magazines.
I'm still in the not much of a change area but everyday starts out hopeful.

Slowly but surely I'm getting there......down about 2 pounds and 5 to go but ideally I'd like to lose 10 more pounds. My smaller clothes all seem to fit now so it fun discovering a whole new wardrobe.
Magazines are just not my thing I prefer books......I'm currently reading "Still Alice". I like to read the book first and then see the movie....also it is very capitivating read for me since my mother has dementia.
Also wanted to mentioned that I watched the movie "Pride" about the LGBT cmmunity and the coal miners strike. I would highly recommend it and I think I first heard about it on Atop. This site is not just an Adam Fan site but a wealth of information too.
See you all next week!

Not so good this week, as I actually gained a pound. Eating is a bit out of control and hard to exercise with a cane. Need to stop feeling sorry for myself and get back on track!!!!

I was up a pound but expected cause I had several days of overeating this last week. I haven't walked in a while and I had to do 2 miles yesterday morning because I had to drop my car off to be worked on so now I am sore. :(

I shouldn't even check in today. I have been totally out of control for a week. I ate so much cake, it was coming out my nose (kidding). However, I have totally lost the desire I had to watch everything I eat. I think it will take me a couple days to get that desire back.
I love to cook and bake so it is hard for me when dieting to find other things to do instead. Reading is one of my favorite pastimes and it helps me to forget about food for awhile. However, I have kept up with my biking everyday. At some point I will have to step on the scale. It has been over a week since I last weighed myself. I am afraid I will get too discouraged if I weigh myself and have gained everything back. I am going to wait a few days to step on that scale and maybe lose the water weight on my backside. Here's hoping I talk to you all next week.

Just a little note here about how lack of sleep can affect your weight. For the last couple of weeks I have been staying up a little too late and only getting 5 or 6 hours of sleep. Since I have been eating right at or slightly above what I'm burning as of yesterday morning I was up a bit at 130.4 lbs. Yesterday I ate just barely under my burn level but got a full 8+ hours of sleep. This morning I weighed in at 127.4 lbs. How much and how well you sleep has a big effect on water retention. So when you weigh yourself and you are up, think not only about how you have been eating and drinking but also about what your sleep patterns have been.

One of the advantages to weighing daily is you really get to know your body and how things affect you. I weigh daily and also use a trend weight program that shows me a trend line on my weight. Your weight can bounce up and down by as much as 8 lbs a day just due to fluctuations in water retention. I know before hand when I am likely to be up. Even if my intake is in the proper range if I had a high salt content especially in the evening before bed I am likely to be up a little. Likewise if I don't get enough sleep, or if I ate most of my calories late at night. All these things I learned by tracking and weighing daily and seeing how my body responded.
