Adam is #43 on the Out 50

Adam made the Out 50 for the second year in the row. Some fans have questioned his drop from #5 to #43 but it was more shocking that he was #5 last year. The ranking is based on a range of factors, including:
1. power to influence cultural and social attitudes
2. political clout
3. individual wealth
4. a person's media profile
Although Adam does OK on #1 and ranks highly on #4, he does not have political clout like Barney Frank or individual wealth like Barry Diller (formerly Fox chief, now CEO of Expedia) or Apple’s Tim Cook. And being ranked between the award winning producer Christine Vachon and John Cooper, the director of the Sundance Film Festival is not bad company to be in.
I am pleased Adam remains on the list, the year after he was “big news”. What I find disconcerting about this list is that it includes some people like Shepard Smith who is not “out”. I think Out Magazine should respect peoples' right to privacy.

Adam Lambert Surpasses Goal For Charity: Water By 10x

I love when a celebrity actually uses their fame for a good cause, don’t you?
A few months ago, Adam Lambert requested that for his 29th birthday (on January 29th) he wanted people to help raise $29,000 for charity: water, a campaign designed to help bring clean, safe drinking water to developing nations.
Fortunately, the fans were listening: not only was he able to reach that goal in under 6 hours, but the fans begged for more! Tweeters requested he raise the goal to $290,000, and together they were able to raise $60,000 in just two days. Now, according to his twitter account, as of 24 hours ago received $323,255— which will help bring water to over 16,000 people. And that’s only after three months!
I suppose Lambert underestimated the powerful influence he has on his fans, but we’re certainly impressed by his continuous, selfless efforts to help those in need.

Stuck in 1991 --- The other unlikely hit from 1991 – and one I think Adam would do brilliantly. R.E.M.’s biggest hit, “Losing My Religion”. Rock mandolin? Lyrics people don’t really know. Lyrics most people who haven’t lived in the US south do not understand.
"Losing my religion" is a Southern expression that means losing one's temper or "being at the end of your rope." Michael Stipe said that "Losing My Religion" is about "someone who pines for someone else. It's unrequited love, what have you." Stipe compared the song's theme to "Every Breath You Take" by The Police, saying, "It's just a classic obsession pop song. I've always felt the best kinds of songs are the ones where anybody can listen to it, put themselves in it and say, 'Yeah, that's me.'"
