Offtopic....but I'm watching Prince on Lopez tonight. Pretty awesome!! ....and he's talking about keeping his concert tickets at $25 - something about TicketMaster and Live Nation - damn, I missed what he said!.... mys*&@^#r scored some tickets I hear. Cool! Here is the scoop from the LA Times -- promoter is Live Nation, tickets are onsale via TicketMaster but pricing is a new model -- super expensive tickets for 20% of the house, the remaining 80% at $25. latimesblogs.latimes.com/music_blog/2011/04/prince-keeps-things-affordable-at-the-forum-at-25-but-how-close-does-that-get-you.htmlMakes sense to me because the close seat end up with the brokers anyway and the prices are sky high. I will probably have to pay $1,000 for my next Adam concert -- cause I need really a good seat. (Notice no S on that!) I wouldn't call that exactly new. U2 360 had I believe 50% of tickets at $50 or below (lowest $30) and only 15% were over $100. They kept GA floor tickets low with only a couple of small VIP sections on sides of the stage. Granted this is a little cheaper but I would argue that U2 showed the model would work. |

Prince's VIP section is the entire floor with prices of 500 and 733, so the model is a but different than U2s. Basically, the VIP tickets are subsidizing my $25 ticket! ;D I'm sure he'll sell out every show, too. |
