Yes. I wonder when the contestants found out about the top 5 tour. I'm thinking about Adam giving up his Wicked role and hoping to make top 10 so he could go on tour and make some money. The show is stressful enough and now AI seems to be changing the rules as the show plays out.

'American Idol' Top 8 Night: The Road Not TakenLyndsey Parker | Managing Editor | April 9, 2015 www.yahoo.com/music/american-idol-top-8-night-the-road-not-taken-115924518376.htmlyhoo.it/1HTKcmV 'American Idol' Top 8 Night: The Road Not Taken At the start of Wednesday’s American Idol top eight show, Ryan Seacrest confirmed that there will indeed be an Idol concert tour this summer… while oh-so casually glossing over the fact that this year’s tour will, for the first time in the series’ history, only feature the top five contestants, not the usual top 10. (Ryan gave no reason for this, but I can only assume it’s a cost-cutting measure. I mean, last year, the tour didn’t even feature a live band.)This news made the episode’s eventual elimination of Qaasim Middleton even more bittersweet. No, Qaasim was not the best vocalist of Season 14. And no, the Judges’ Save probably should not have been used (some might say squandered) on him, when the show was only down to a top 11. But Qaasim was no doubt the best performer of Season 14. Maybe he didn’t deserve to win, but he would have been a major highlight of the concert tour. Seriously, this was the performance Qaasim gave Wednesday when singing for the newly instituted Twitter Save. This was entertainment. Come on, I would have loved to see ice-cold Qaasim shake it like a Polaroid picture to Outkast’s “Hey Ya” at an amphitheater near me this summer: But American Idol is, at its core, a singing competition. So in the end, Qaasim lost out in Wednesday’s Twitter Save sing-off to superior vocalist Rayvon Owen (who’d successful sung for the Twitter Save against Daniel Seavey just last week). I’m not saying America got it wrong here. Rayvon set fire to the stage with his “Set Fire to the Rain” performance. I’m just saying that Qaasim did more than enough this season to earn a spot on the summer tour. In every other season, just making it to a respectable eighth place was enough. Oh well. Let’s recap the other six contestants who performed Billboard hits this Wednesday, and try to figure out which five of them will hit the road this summer… more...

The Idol 2014 Tour stats were pretty dismal. "Idols In Concert – Stats – 09/11/14". 2014-09-11 bit.ly/1Od4E61(This is from the site many of us left to join Planet Fierce. PatH and Q3 left comments.)

Thanks for your last two posts -- interesting information! It really is too bad that Qassim will not be on the tour. He would have shook things up -- just like Adam did way back when!

Thanks for your last two posts -- interesting information! It really is too bad that Qassim will not be on the tour. He would have shook things up -- just like Adam did way back when! Qassim is exactly what the Idol tour needs. When they told him to sit still and sing, that killed the excitement he brought and ended him. Honestly, I have thought for years that there is someone in TPTB that have been trying to kill the show. I think this will probably be the the last Idol tour, so they've succeeded there. There were good Idol seasons before Adam. (They could do it again.) Many finalists from Season 5 (2006) have had good or better careers. Their Idol tour was the most successful. 2006en.wikipedia.org/wiki/American_Idols_LIVE!_Tour_2006 OR bit.ly/1DoIytzTop 10Taylor Hicks (winner)..........Katharine McPhee (2nd place) Elliott Yamin (3rd place)......Chris Daughtry (4th place) Paris Bennett (5th place)......Kellie Pickler (6th place) Ace Young (7th place)..........Bucky Covington (8th place) Mandisa (9th place)............Lisa Tucker (10th place) Tour SummaryNumber of shows - 60 (20 sold out) Total gross - $35,829,661 (60 shows)Total attendance - 656,550 (60 shows) Average attendance - 10,943 (96%) Average ticket price - $54.57 Highest gross - Philadelphia, Pennsylvania - $791,159 Lowest gross - Syracuse, New York - $357,758 Highest attendance - Greensboro, North Carolina - 15,337 (100%) Lowest attendance - Syracuse, New York - 6,048 (94%) I have all 13 seasons here: atop.proboards.com/post/604480/thread

Yes, some of the talent on AI seems mediocre this year to the singers on The Voice. Since I follow AI more closely, I know a lot of the contestants there have gone on to successful musical careers. I have no idea what happens to the The Voice contestants -- the only thing I know is none of them are on my radio stations.

Rayvon got to speak last night after his "save me song" and I thought that is the most genuine passion I've seen in him. Do you think that helped to save him?
I'm glad Tyanna was better last night. I admired that she kept herself together for the duration of the song. I would have been a total mess!
I see five of the seven remaining contestants are from the South. The last four to be voted out were not from the South, so ... who's next?

Jax is from NJ, hope it's not her turn.
