Hi everybody! Happily reading through the thread from yesterday, I saw Gelly's post asking if I was alright. I was surprised, but realized I hadn't posted in a while. I have just been busy, but I try to hit the highlights every day. Sometimes I read every second or fifth page or even just the first page, if I'm in a hurry. Anyway, in this part of Japan, we feel quite removed from the disaster. Some supplies have been sold out in stores and the cities are definitely quieter at night. We were in Kyoto the other night to see some of the places that have the cherry blossoms lit up and noticed there were very few foreigners. Its been in the news that 80% of the visitors from overseas canceled their trips. I think its a waste because its actually less crowded (a real plus) and this area has no danger. Of course, people coming from other countries don't realize that. From what I've heard the aftershocks are really fraying people's nerves. Here's an interesting you tube of the aftershocks starting with the 8.9 one right at the beginning. www.youtube.com/watch?v=pM8XbzdlZIgWe had a family come to stay with us for a week to get away from the radiation. They were not Japanese and of course the international press put a much more dire spin on the situation from the beginning, so they were anxious to get out. Now, the international press would seem to have been more judicious in that the severity of the radiation leak, earlier, has been upgraded to a 7. I don't want to take the thread off course, but once I get started thinking about the disaster, one thing leads to another. I just want you to know that I'm fine and I appreciate you thinking about me. Q3 comment: Thank you for posting this. Important news and major world events are always appropriate in the news thread -- particularly if they effect members. Pleased you are OK. Four56, so great to hear from YOU!!! I reposted your entire post with the youtube link since I am coming in later here. Don't want people to miss another chance to hear from you. This youtube is mindblowing..it is like fireworks on the 4th of July, the aftershocks. I can understand why people's nerves are frayed. My thoughts and prayers are with all in Japan and affected areas. Thanks for checking in!

alreference The Librarian Vimeo version of Raja's interview in which he talks about Adam Lambert (via @devenlane). dld.bz/W4Tc #♒♎♈ Thanks, lynneville! Raja is very articulate and a hoot to boot. Very serious about her art. If people haven't looked at her new website, it is called "The Art of Raja"..some breathtaking photo stills. Sorry, don't have the link. Worth checking out IMHO ETA: lindy, I wanna know if Raja won too!! NOW! The top four was really very emotional. Lots of pressure on these queens now. Gawd, they are so talented. I could be a Raja groupie in a nanosecond..oh wait..I already am.

Thanks, lindy! At my last consulting gig I gave a copy of FYE to the woman I was working for. On the day she brought it home she said that she was looking for something in her briefcase and handed it to her husband while she rifled through some papers on the train ride home. He wouldn't hold it! Then the story gets worse. Her children (5 & 7yrs old) looked at the sleeve and kept asking if it was a girl or a boy. If it was a boy, why did he have make-up on? So what did the parents do? They took the sleeve out of the jewel case so the kids wouldn't see it. Sad. I'm guessing the sleeve went into the garbage. I wish I didn't know this. She said her kids were too young to have to do any type of explaining. Every time I passed her by for the next few days I had to bite my tongue.
