I have to say, that second review on this page is the loveliest review I have read of the whole tour, by far. www.musicscramble.co.uk/2015/01/16/queen-adam-lambert-sse-hydro-glasgow-live-january-140115/For me, it captures what is real about live music, which is it's capacity to make us feel and to feel everything that is being offered requires being in the moment with the artist. While he absolutely acknowledges the past, which is inescapable because it is a Queen concert and Queen music being sung in a different voice, interpreted in a unique way, his ability to be present, open-heartedly in the moment without any emotional or intellectual constructs of what it should be and was not, was incredibly beautiful to me. Obviously Adams voice rang his bells, but to Adam's fans, that is a no-brainer. That is the only thing Brian and Roger are offering .... that experience - that celebration - now. And people have let go and gone with them to that place. I'm glad he took it with both hands and the joy that comes with it, like so many, many thousands of others have done throughout this tour. I'm glad the cheers for Freddie were long and long. For John. For Queen as it once was. I'm equally glad the cheers for Adam were long and long. He was right too, that Adam is a spectacular front-man in his own right, that audiences love him because he dares to be real, to show you who he is, even his dorky and ridiculous sides. LOL that he's fallen a little in love with him  . He has that rare ability to actually entertain, not just perform. I cannot count the number of times I've left concerts disappointed and bored (Roxy Music, Lou Reed, etc, etc etc) because entertaining is an art form in itself which many cannot master (thank you rihannsu for your wonderful post on this topic a little while ago). But I can't agree about Brian's solo. Sorry. God I loved it. I actually noticed the light show during the solo, I looked around at the arena for the first time while listening to that guitar wail. I won't forget that sight and sound anytime soon. And to everyone going to O2 - have the time of your lives .... I am only slightly jealous .... so may the streams be stable and clear for all of us back home. |

Thank you houselady, it's really much easier to vote, when you don't have to look for the link to vote! The band which is in second place, has risen all the time slowly and surely. And to achieve all the time QAL. (I have never heard of Foreigner, should I listen to them?) |
