The Beyoncé thing is weird, I agree. If she's singing live, why wouldn't the band play with her? The band not playing would make more sense if she was lip-synching. But then, it doesn't sound like she's lip-synching. It's a mystery! And I agree that the theory about the band not playing because of lack of rehearsal is weak. Well, I guess we'll either find out what really happened or not. : You're right, Adam has sung a couple of Bb5 in full voice... and that's one step below C6. lol I still have trouble translating the C, D, E, etc. to the way I learned it (Do, Re, Mi, and so on). It also makes sense to me that he could go higher perhaps even in full voice, because that Bb6 doesn't sound strained or forced.

My two cents on the National Anthem; our "Star Spangled Banner".
I thought Beyonce's performance was lovely. It will not stay with me as others' performances have, but it was sincere - and if she lip-synched, I could not tell.
About the anthem, itself. Cassie has spoken well of the phrasing, and how Adam emphasized the true meaning of the lyrics when he sang, both at Miramar and at the Spielberg event.
Often, I find myself in awe of this anthem. Especially because it ends with a question we should always ask ourselves: "O say does this star-spangled banner yet wave o'er the land of the free and the home of the brave?" I find this inquiry to be profound for a nation that always reflects upon its direction and its motives. We should always ask ourselves this question; each time we hear this song; put our hands over our hearts and look to the soul of this great country. Flawed, in need of attention, always. Like a strong, unbridled adolescent child, still growing up.
I will always lend myself to this refrain, to the choir asking the question.
In Adam, we've discovered, I know, an honest voice; a respectful, eloquent, sincere, soaring and thankful portrayal of the words penned by Francis Scott Key. Adam possesses the voice and emotional wisdom of lyric interpretation, and has brought new life to words penned hundreds of years ago. Oh, how I want the world to hear his beautiful tenor ask the lasting question.

Thank you, Glampoon! I don't think I had heard Edda Moser singing that aria. I liked the drama, the intensity she gave to the character to convey the insane rage of the Queen.

That's fabulous! A few of the comments below the video comment on a leetle flaw at 1:05-1:06. It's true. And some people on Atop think we are picky.

Talking about beautiful clear ringing voices I went to see Dead Can Dance tonight in concert. For those not familiar I would describe them as etherial percussion with voice accompaniment. Both leads have amazing voices but Lisa Gerrard is perhaps the more famous of the duo - she was the voice behind some of the hauntingly beautiful music at the end of the move Gladiator (Now we are free). There are quite a few You Tubes you can check out. It is rare a voice captures and transports you - it's what we all love about Adam's voice. Dead Can Dance can do that too - watched a theatre full of people in silent rapture tonight... Here is a taste - to our vocal masters always interested to hear what you think. I have not heard of her so this is my first listen. She reminds me of Florence of Florence and the Machine, but has a more even tone in her range (at least in these songs). Her voice and music fits the Gladiator bit well. However, it is not a voice I would just sit and listen to, mostly because of the uneven quiver. It's not what I'd call a vibrato (voice experts might differ with me on that). It must makes me feel unsettled. Sorry. But I DID enjoy learning about her.

Just wondering about the Ab Nile refers to in this tweet:
@adamlambert You hit a high Ab like it was just another note. A quiver with an arsenal of musical weapons at your god given disposal-ROCK ON
Was thinking it must have been in Shady? but the highest note I hear in this is a Gb right at the very end.... anyone have any ideas? Thanks!

Yeah, I went back and listened to the songs they did together, and the highest note was the Gb at the end of Shady. Oops. Still damned impressive.

In one of his previous tweets he said he was listening to the clean mix of their performance. But what if he checked other performances of Adam out after that? Because I'm sure he knows the difference between a Gb and an Ab.
