I really don't understand how a dislike of an artist's fans can turn someone off to the artist him/herself?
Say, I find many Queen fans posting on QOL/QZ mostly reprehensible, trollish, disrespectful to everyone including Queen members - and I am using mild words...so, does it affect my appreciation of Queen?

Can anyone cite an example of a comment on an article from, say, two years ago that had a negative effect on Adam's career? As I said before, dust in the wind. The Internet is so stuffed with comments from people around the world--smart comments, dumb ones, mean ones, funny ones, incoherent ones, insightful ones--that anyone who is going to focus in on a particular artist and that artist's fans has an agenda anyway and WHO CARES?
I just can't believe that responding to any article is going to have an impact one way or the other. Sometimes you just want to say something and that is your right. It can be fun. It can be upsetting. But one thing it's never going to be is lastingly significant. I just don't get all the dire warnings as if the whole world is waiting to pounce on Adam or his fans.

I read an article that said many media sites are turning off comments all together because of the nastiness of the posts..... about ANY news story. A story of a lost puppy being returned to its loving family will get vile comments!

The Billboard article is the perfect example of what we are talking about. How can anyone look at that shitfest in the comment section and not come away feeling negative about Adam and especially his fandom. Just mind Boggling. BRB off to develop a keyboard that zaps the fingers when one types stupid stuff. I think it will be a very profitable venture. :D BTW gracie - I only read the first page of comments on that Billboard article (don't have time to read the whole thing right now), but everything I saw on page 1 seemed just fine. Some of the comments were passionate, but none of them struck me as obnoxious. And, frankly, if I was coming from the outside, I would find that sort of commentary extremely interesting. Based on my browsing style, If I saw that there was nearly 250 comments on an album based on that article and those page 1 comments, I would be intrigued enough to start looking for a YouTube vid....starting with Runnin'. And then after listening I may come back to read the rest of the comments and add my own. Different strokes for different folk, but my attention would be caught positively. ETA/OT: I miss your gray and white kitty. Don't automatically recognize you now! #newaviprettytho'! Oh my gosh! You remember my kitty!

Martin Cox @cox1_martin 7m7 minutes ago @adamlambert After making this Queen fan extremely happy at the Newcastle gig,i've recently discovered your solo work. You sir are a good ladNow THIS is what I will take away from today's thread! I stay away from comments sections UNLESS I feel there is serious character maligning occurring, like that old fiasco with EOnline and the horrid comments made about Adam on air. I got very involved in that one. Wrote E, Ryan Seacrest and GLAAD, as did many people. It made a difference. These petty articles, I ignore. Each to their own of course.
