Contestants from The Sing Off are doing holiday special tonight at 8 pm with all Christmas/Holiday music. I think all the contestant groups will be participating. Should be fun.

Does anyone else miss the "brighter" tone Adam used to use? Especially around Idol time? His voice has sounded much darker and weighty since GNT, and I can't work out why for the life of me!

Cassie - I copied my post from the Main forum in case you miss it... The Show Must Go On by Brian May - DocumentaryComments he has of Freddie re:high notes during demo and recording for the first time...- that was before he heard AFL... ETA: No wonder they did not include TSMGO in the Tribute Band repertoire Cassie... would that be the ending of the song when Adam sang "Show?" How high was that note? Thanks. He must really be impressed with Adam to not only give him this "vocally challenging" Queen song but also had it sang live the same key as Freddie recorded in the studio, right?

Cassie... I moved you answer here from the Main forum. Thank you. Very interesting. I had noticed previously that other singers doing the song with Queen not only lowered the key, but also did not do the melody line in the chorus, but left it to the (female?) back up singers. As to the high note in that song..... obviously this was recorded before Brian had heard Adam. The note is a D5, just a little over an octave above middle C. That is a piece of cake for Adam. It is the same note that he holds forever at the end of the live version of Feeling Good. He can, and has on many times, hit notes 5 steps higher than that. So, if Freddy was extraordinary, I guess that would make Adam extraordinary-er. His high notes are also fuller and more naturally resonant. j/s Thanks, cassie... no wonder Roger Taylor said that Adam was so good it was scary... and that was after the Idol finale comment. After the EMA he said Adam's voice is uparalleled/effortless and Brian May said "extraordinary/amazing". They have a standard to base it on.

Hello! It's the first time I'm posting on this thread, but I have read it many, many times. Thank you to all of you who have musical knowledge and are so willing to explain things to the rest of us. i770.photobucket.com/albums/xx348/Quu3/Adam%20Smilys/Flower.gif[/img] Also, I had no idea where to put this, but I wanted to show you my favorite contestant from The Voice - Romania and I wanted you all to tell me what do you think of him and his voice. I have no musical knowledge, but I love how his presence and voice make me feel. It's not close to what I feel when I hear Adam, but it is something. So, what do you think?

I was surfing the tube y'day to relive my memories of EMA and I came across this cover of TSMGO ver. EMA.
I really like how he made the song his own and that he did it a way to suit his voice. I like the tone of his voice too...Don't quite know how to describe it...it sounded sweet to me. :-[
Was hoping the experts here would be able to analyze and give their comments on this kid.
Thanks

I'm bringing over just the link for this (Q3 asked that we not c/p the content). I thought this was an excellent time-stamped analysis of the musical choices of vocalist vs. instrumentation Adam and company make on BTIKM. It points out the hidden complexity of some of what's going on, and how it fits into making the sound work for what's current in pop music and increases the emotional impact. You can follow along with the Vevo official vid of BTIKM. For those not familiar with Livejournal, click 'expand' or 'thread' to read all the responses and the anon musician's replies. Some of the really good stuff is buried further down in the thread. fyentertainment.livejournal.com/33493.html?thread=135316693#t135316693the part of the thread that does a point by point analysis: fyentertainment.livejournal.com/33493.html?thread=135339221#t135339221The vevo vid: For those not familiar with FYE you might not want to post comments there unless you've spent some time lurking and understand how the comm works.

I apologize to those who have taken the time to post here recently. I have the forum set so that any new post give me an automatic email notification, so I can check it quickly. Except, it hasn't been working since the beginning of December, it seems. Imagine my surprise when I came here to post something and found your messages. Thanks for your comments. I will make sure I check this daily whether my email tells me to or not.
