Sorry - have to agree with SophieB. Liked the black and white but wanted more of a story line versus split second shots of a motley crew of people dancing. It did remind me of the IIHY video in many ways.
I generally love Hype Williams' music videos. Like Adam, I really loved Jack White's which had great artistry and interesting storyline. I'm disappointed in this one. Mainly for what could have been. I guess in the end if Adam is happy that's huge. But...

Very cool!! I kept wishing all those other dancers would go away so I could just watch Adam dance, but I understand the choices; the video isn't just for Glamberts like me who only want to stare at Adam for 3 minutes lol. What I wouldn't give to see those outtakes of him dancing! I guess I'll have to wait for the tour and hope he does a little dancing in that

Was that it? The most gorgeous man you could possibly want to film and he's hardly shown for a whole second at a time....what a wasted opportunity...and i hope he didn't work on getting in shape for this cos no one would know. Also, I thought the opening bit with his face more featured, was very badly lit - unflattering, which takes some doing with Adam..The whole thing was just a video list of oddly dressed and presented friends of Adam in irritating split second flashes. (A bit latter day IIHY). All this instead of innovation and artistry and real imagination. Just could have been soo amazing with Adam as subject matter. Oh oh.....now I'm in trouble.....but it's just my humble opinion, etc.....and what do I know.... So looking forward to being wrong....fire away.... I was going to hold off on posting my opinion in this thread as to not bring the general mood down, but after seeing this post....fuck it, I can't resist. I agree. I find it...unpleasant to look at. I just watched it once, but I had no desire to watch it again; I felt more inclined to watch the lyric video again. It's like takes the best aspects (Adam's friends) and the worst aspects (the seizure-inducing flashes) of the IIHY video and throws them onto a slate more reflective of Adam's updated aesthetic. I ended up feeling like my eyeballs were forcefully assaulted with an absurd amount of imagery, yet nevertheless I took nothing away from this video other than the fact that Adam has hot friends (which I already knew). To me, the worst part was Hype Williams namedropping himself in the middle of the video. I have no problem with directors crediting themselves at the beginning or end of a video, but the middle? No. It's tacky. It's distracting. It draws all attention away from whatever else is going on. Plus, who decided to use that font? Oh, and for the record, I'm 21. Not that I claim to represent all young people, but disliking this video is definitely not an age-related thing.

It was poor lighting for me, split second image changes leave me with a bit of a headache, too much like IIHY. I don't see the innovative forward thinking in this. I love the Elvis part, but too quick and I wanted to see better, so dark. video doesn't live up to the song or the hype for me for first few watches. maybe it will grow on me. I am relieved to be reading so many happy responses here and on Twitter. I just watched it again - couldn't believe I could be so wrong with other proples 'ded' type comments. This must have been the cheapest vid made in a long time. Stand on a sheet and writhe around....next....couldn't have taken more than a few hours to film and most of that would be for Adam's costumes that we couldn't even see. But seriously, it went so quickly it made my eyes very uuncomfortable I certainly won't watch it again. ....and did the prior hyped sections seem to be bits that didn't actually make the cut?

I think the Jack White music video was edgy with lots of artistry. This one seemed very cobbled together. The dancer writhing on the floor - she took up too much space. I would have cut her for more Adam. I love that he wanted his friends in it. But he already did one like that - IIHY. This one just didn't seem cutting edge to me at all with a few exceptional shots.
And BTW - I think the crow and tilted Hollywood sign would have been great additions. Cut the writhing girl and add those because they actually fit the story line.

Watched in slo-mo. (Chrome, Youtube, 0.25 speed)
What I loved.
1. Lips. Lips, lips, lips. Tongue.
2. Elvis montage, especially when he lifts the collar, crosses his arms and raises that gorgeous upper lip in an Elvis snarl.
3. The finger snapping when he is leaning against the wall.
What I didn't love so much.
1. Back shot of the booty.
2. Crotch shot of the female dancer.
3. Could not fit into the overall look the girl in the print dress writhing (frequently, it seemed to me) on the reflective surface.
