 Needs more Adam and less friends. (Especially the chick endlessly writhing on the reflective floor.) The beginning was perfect with such potential. The visuals set the mood...the tone...his beautiful face and voice front and center. Images depicting the emptiness of a world--and heart--bereft of feeling or color. A void. Then a little dancing...HOPE?...good. Then just more dancing friends and a dark Adam face that's soooooo reminiscent of IIHY. And out. What? Been there; done that. The Elvis homage was a delightful touch. How about a flash of something James Dean-y or Clint Eastwood-y? He's breathtakingly gorgeous and can act! You have that face and body and the powerful energy it contains so USE it! (Not nearly enough chest or long, black coat or HIS dancing.) They needed to end the video with more of the mysterious, isolated imagery that the song invokes. The raven/crow flying over the desolation...or featuring the ruined Hollywood sign...as the video faded out. Either would have made for a more powerful lasting image that tied back into the beginning sequence. Adam does not need screeching back-up singers in colorful afros or frenetic dancers in flamboyant costumes. He is such a powerful, charismatic performer, the others become nothing more than distractions. IMHO. HE COULD HAVE CARRIED THIS VIDEO ON HIS OWN. And we would have been richer for it. Oh well, I LOVE the song! The video will grow on me and my disappointment will fade. I will support both with all my being and click "repeat" until my fingers bleed. But, damn, I had such "High" hopes for something more "Original". (I, also, hope the numbers for this video surpasses any amassed by Bieber and Swift COMBINED and it's proven, once again, that I don't know shit.)  |

Does anyone remember if WWFM ever got 53 adds in one week? I do not even need to look this up. NO! No Adam video even had a real impact like this. And Adam will now be performing at even radio event coast to coast.  |

GT: The world sucks, Hollywood sold out, Elvis is dead, and my heart is empty. I am depressed. So what do I do now? Of course, I go party in black and white with everyone that was supposed to be "spread". Do you see why I feel GT video makes no sense in the context of the song? I agree that if you take away the dancing part and leave only the shots of Adam, that stuff is quite powerful (and the "vampires" shot is genius, as we saw in the screenshot a week ago already). I understand the music is also schizophrenic, but I expected the video to be about something since the song is. It is of course totally my fault that I expected more substance than form. The form is quite good though, and because there is something there for everyone (including hetero males), I will go and watch it to keep the counter going up. I LOVE the song itself. I feel it will be a big success, and my personal feelings are unimportant in this case, but I had to write this wall of text to make me feel better, as I have no black and white party to go to... Are you saying that the partying with friends part doesn't seem to fit the idea that everyone is supposed to be spread? I have a slightly different interpretation. In spite of the fact that the video is full of his friends and they are all partying and dancing. None of them seem to be interacting with each other. They are all quite separate really even when they are physically close and Adam never seems to see them even when they are right near him so it gives me the impression of disconnectedness or even perhaps that they are only really there in his dream and so not able to connect with him. To me it fits in perfectly with the meaning of the song. |
