Reading of Sam Smith's vocal issues and musing over my coffee, I find it interesting and a little perturbed at the public's general dissing of artistic specialists....when specializing is the key to success in most other vocational realms. The reason singers from the musical theatre and opera can perform 6 and 7 performances a week is because they have specialized in their voices, working for years to hone and perfect their art. Yes, in musical theatre, most performers also have strong dance skills...but I also suspect if you did an analysis, those that have really strong dance skills are not quite as strong singers, and vice versus. I am ignoring the acting portion as I am focussing on the needs of the body to respond to the physical stresses of repetitive performing. You only have to look at young singers like Sam or Adele to see what happens without the focus and training. And if you expect your singers to also dance up a storm, they have no option but to lip synch. Even Adam can't sing and dance for a whole concert....the odd number, like Fever on the GNT, but most of the girls now are expected to dance like semi-pro's and ridiculed when caught synching...well duh...ditto Also, if they have to put that much time and work into the dancing, that time must come away from the singing. Zero sum game. So...why are singers like Adam criticized for not having more grit or push, or singers like Celine ridiculed for the efforts she puts into protecting her voice? If they don't do these things, they will end up like so many singers, cancelling shows or blowing out their voices forever. Trained vocalists can sing for decades...have you listened to Colm Wilkinson...at 70+ he can still do a very respectable "Bring him Home"...you won't see Robert Plante or Steven Tyler doing that.. Sam has had a vocal coach since he was 9 years old.......... though it was quite obvious to me, having read about her training methods, that she is not teaching proper technique. Read a bit about her process here.... www.vh1.com/music/tuner/2015-02-05/sam-smith-vocal-coach-joanna-eden-team-celeb/

Just because... I couldn't resist looking at some Shazam numbers. I think those numbers should be pretty clean, since there has been not a lot of fan Shazaming (yet) that I know of. So I found 36,201 Shazams until now. That didn't seem to be a big number to me since the top Shazam hits in the US have something in the region of 1.000.000 - 2.000.000 Shazams. But I know it is not just about the numbers, Shazam has ways to determine whether something has the potential to be a hit. It is probably based on how many Shazams vs how many plays on the radio, or how fast the number of Shazams goes up or maybe even on the location. (Maybe somebody else has the time to really look into this? Or knows more than me?) Anyway: there is this nice webpage that identifies any Future Hits as detected by Shazam *drumroll* Ghost Town is on it for two countries! US: 5 (!)Australia: 15 (the other available countries are Italy, Germany, Spain, UK, France. Most of them just give a top 10, so it might be there somewhere, but below top 10) www.shazam.com/charts/future-hits/united-states

Saw this on Twitter, RTd by Rihannsu, and tho it's not about Adam...it is about embracing and being grateful for "fame" and being a pop star. Of course, it makes me think of Adam, who I think is doing a wonderful job of embracing his "PopStar". It's a letter from Frank Sinatra to the LA Times in 1990 about George Michael. Some of you prob. have already seen it. Now, back to today's wait for ET and the GT music video!!!

"Glamberts! Get ready for Adam Lambert overload! Just kidding, we know there's no such thing." [...] "To sweeten the deal, we sat down with Lambert for a wide-ranging interview on everything from career milestones, to Madonna, to gym selfies, to Dancing With the Stars, We'll be rolling out pieces of the interview throughout the day but in the meantime, here's a taste to whet your appetite. (You're welcome.)" Worth reading! More.... www.etonline.com/music/163534_adam_lambert_7_quotes_to_get_you_excited_about_his_et_takeover/

great job, Sherzie! You can do YouTube - play the new video about once an hour! If I may- is there a reason you can't stream? like your internet usage at home is limited? If not : - get set up on Twitter - it is fun! You can then retweet and/or tweet with the crucial "#GhostTown #NowPlaying #TheOriginalHigh @adamlambert" text and also think of Spotify and Rdio! Why not? It is very easy to keep streaming, you can mute! I can't think of anything else...may be voting on all those radio stations polls... Thanks, Nica! Yup, I'll definitely play the new video! I have way more internet usage than I ever use -- must think about setting up a Twitter account and at least using it to retweet important stuff. A question about using something like Spotify: does it cost much to use it? (I have NO CLUE on this stuff.... ) You can use the FREE version of Spotify on your PC or MAC, not on your phone. Just download, find GT and put it on "replay"... same with RDIO, except you canopen it in your browser (rdio.com), no need to install. I do both and YT.

The teaser from the video looks amazing. It kinda has a Film Noir meets Western feel to it. Hype Williams's style reminds me of the movie Sin City:And Francis Ford Coppola's Rumble Fish
I wonder if there will be any color, and if there is color I wonder what will be colored. The music video is going to come out when I'm asleep

Is it OK to do this if we are not in the NY area? I would say "no" I'd say it depends. I listen to Z100 as my primary station on sirius and listen to Z100 and KIIS via the iheart radio app and i live outside DC. Been doing this for years. I wouldn't suggest contacting them if you do not normally listen to this station.

Is it OK to do this if we are not in the NY area? I would say "no" I don't have Sirius/XM in my truck any more, but I think Z100 was on it and thus avilable nationwide, so maybe it would be okay?
