So I was just over on Mediabase looking at the rolling 7 day report as we close the week and I saw Adam at #42 on Top40. Am I reading this right? Looked like a couple of songs above dropped off. I didn't think that would happen until tomorrow. Someone please give me a reality check. Wow. IF THIS IS TRUE ONLY 2 POSITIONS TO GO TO BREAK INTO THE TOP 40! Let's make sure we push for every spin in the polls that we can influence and cheerlead the stations that are spinning if we are local so they increase. #42 got purged. NICKI MINAJ Truffle Butter ... 1143 -118 -209 -204 5.411 -0.732 57 So Ghost Town moved up 1 to #42. Some songs above GT are dropping quickly so it will move up to the Top 40. For example: 38 -3 TORI KELLY Nobody Love 1447 -241 -1542 -39 5.040 -0.983 71 I noticed that. Also Calvin Harris, R5 and Rhianna/McCartney. But Adam's spin increase was nil over the past couple of days and there are some fast movers below him. I would LOVE you to be right!

How does this compare to say a Taylor Swift - Sam Smith or Ed Sheeran song that has hit the charts in the last year. How long from time of release did it take their songs to hit the charts and climb ? Not comparable to Taylor Swift, Sam Smith or Ed Sheeran. It is much easier to get a song on pop radio if you had a recent hit on pop radio. Adam has 2 modest pop radio hits in 2010 -- WWFM got up to #13 -- and it took 6 weeks. months! "Ghost Town" is his most successful radio song ever at this point after release. There is no set amount of time for a song to move up the pop radio chart. Here are the top 5 songs on US Pop Radio, total spins last week, and release date. 1 THE WEEKND Earned It 17055 December 23, 2014 December 23, 2014 2 ELLIE GOULDING Love Me Like Like... 16298 January 7, 2015 3 WIZ KHALIFA See You Again f... 13954 March 17, 2015 (A very fast moving song) 4 JASON DERULO Want To Want M... 13885 March 9, 2015 (A very fast moving song) 5 NATALIE LA ROSE Somebody f/... 13738 January 6, 2015 How fast a song move is partially based on the labels promo strategy -- my GUESS is that GT will peak on radio sometime in late June. They are moving it very quickly. ETA: Corrected. Thanks rihannsu

No doubt. >> Check the numbers thread for radio info and more numbers info. >> Don't look at airplay numbers for a day or two -- it means nothing. Here are the numbers: Mon May 4-#48 Sun May 10-#42 Bullet +402 spins Audience Impression - 5.36

I know we really need it to do so in CHR but I wondered if it was also a milestone in HAC.

Well Top 40 in anything is a milestone of sorts but for impacting sales for HAC usually means getting in to the top 15 or 20. BTIKM peaked at #17 in HAC with little to no CHR presence and it had minimal impact on sales.

Sorry - I wasn't really trying to compare Adam to these artists - more just thinking of any recent chart climbers and what their pattern was once they were released - more comparing the journey up the chart form release time to charting time

For Top 40: some radio stations do not consider adding songs until they are in the Top 40 on the pop airplay charts. It is not that important. "Ghost Town" is the lead single for TOH. The roll of a lead single is to generate awareness for the album release. One way to do that is to get radio airplay which exposes the song to a large audience who is interested in music. Adam also want to be a pop star -- and that means he needs to have some pop hits.
