Want to add a little more to the GT live performance discussion. There was a reason for EITN really connecting (aside from that it is a great tune) There was energy from all the people on the stage. GT live has this oddity that the band doesn't play AND Adam doesn't sing at certain points. And yes, he dances and is hot but there is a different energy when 4 people are standing around on stage. That does not happen in EITN so it kind of builds more though GT always has that incredible build to the end. But it is kind of like it has to get pulled back into a higher energy place after a little drop. Whoever mentioned dancers - I think spot on. I think it needs that. Adam needs energy up there to feed off in those passages. Don't throw shade at me!!! I totally adore it. JMHO That makes sense. It looked a little weird on Ellen with the guitarists in particular just kind of standing there. I wonder if they'll work on an arrangement that will involve the band more. Cam can certainly do a lot with the keyboard, and I would think the rest of them could figure out a way to play too without straying too far from the sound and intent of the recording. I hope so, because it's such a good recording and so far (two whole performances, lol!) seems a little awkward live. And it is now one of Adam's signature songs! My take on why GT was not as good live as it is on the album:
Part of what I really love about Ghost Town is the many layers of sound. Adam recorded his own voice layered over his own voice so, even if he had backup singers, which he didn't, we could never get the wonderful sound that's on the album single. Also, the whistling part, although it's on a recorded track when he sings live, leaves Adam somewhat at a loss of what to do. He can't just stand there, and unlike QAL, he doesn't have a close band member who he can interact with during the time that he's not singing.
Other performers deal with all of that in various ways but they all have bigger production budgets than a radio show with numerous artists. When I saw, P!nk on tour, she sang her duet with Nate Reuss, who wasn't there, of course. She did this by singing live with him singing his part projected onto a very large screen that was on the stage. The sound techs blended their voices to make a very good duet that sounded like it was all live. When I saw Justin Bieber (took my granddaughter), he had an amazingly good eight piece band, six dancers who interacted with him while he sang, and four backup singers who filled in harmonies to his songs and snag the notes that he couldn't reach. It was a very impressive show!
From touring with QAL, Adam has gotten used to a high class production with some amazing special effects. I think that part of the reason he seemed nervous last night was because he was on his own with a three piece band that had two members who he really didn't know. He's not used to that anymore.

Mix 94.1 @mix941 3m3 minutes ago Who will start the first week of June at #1 on #MMR tonight? @sia @adamlambert @wizkhalifa Your votes decide! bit.ly/1PTosQ0
This went badly. GT was #5 with the least amount of votes. By the time I saw it, it was too late to vote. I'll go back tomorrow.

I watched the videos and I didn't think Adam looked nervous ,although he had plenty to think about.. a 10 minute set,a plane to catch for Europe, heavy traffic, lots of rain in the forecast and probably very little sleep the night before.. because he flew on the red eye from Las Vegas.. rushed,tired...possibly . He's a man who seems to have boundless energy. He just seems to love being on that stage..It seems to give him a shot in the arm even with a schedule that would exhaust superman.

getting Walmart distribution would be a good thing, right? Or is it "normal/doesn't matter" type thing? Normal, important and expected. [For pop albums Walmart is usually bigger than iTunes in sales units.] I just preordered TOH from Walmart and they ship free. I'm not sure how large our local Walmart music CD section is these day. I'll have to check.

He's a man who seems to have boundless energy, but I'm sure even superman might have a bit of a tired second once in a while;) BTW I thought Adam's performance was GREAT.. The good news is he's getting exposure to new people. I think he'll get it all worked out before the "big ones" coming up. I think he looked fantastic and overall sounded great. I think there could be some nerves there - these songs are his babies and he's pretty freaking excited to share them with us and he wants everyone to "drink the kool-aid"

It may be as simple as he was expecting to go on later than he ending up going on. All I am sure of -- he looked great, seemed incredibly happy, and the vocal on GT was great particularly after the drop. And, of course, he said "Ladies and Gentlemen" and "Are you guys having fun." So all is good in the universe.
