That makes sense. It looked a little weird on Ellen with the guitarists in particular just kind of standing there. I wonder if they'll work on an arrangement that will involve the band more. Cam can certainly do a lot with the keyboard, and I would think the rest of them could figure out a way to play too without straying too far from the sound and intent of the recording. I hope so, because it's such a good recording and so far (two whole performances, lol!) seems a little awkward live. And it is now one of Adam's signature songs! My take on why GT was not as good live as it is on the album:
Part of what I really love about Ghost Town is the many layers of sound. Adam recorded his own voice layered over his own voice so, even if he had backup singers, which he didn't, we could never get the wonderful sound that's on the album single. Also, the whistling part, although it's on a recorded track when he sings live, leaves Adam somewhat at a loss of what to do. He can't just stand there, and unlike QAL, he doesn't have a close band member who he can interact with during the time that he's not singing.
Other performers deal with all of that in various ways but they all have bigger production budgets than a radio show with numerous artists. When I saw, P!nk on tour, she sang her duet with Nate Reuss, who wasn't there, of course. She did this by singing live with him singing his part projected onto a very large screen that was on the stage. The sound techs blended their voices to make a very good duet that sounded like it was all live. When I saw Justin Bieber (took my granddaughter), he had an amazingly good eight piece band, six dancers who interacted with him while he sang, and four backup singers who filled in harmonies to his songs and snag the notes that he couldn't reach. It was a very impressive show!
From touring with QAL, Adam has gotten used to a high class production with some amazing special effects. I think that part of the reason he seemed nervous last night was because he was on his own with a three piece band that had two members who he really didn't know. He's not used to that anymore.
Plus the 4-piece band doesn't do much playing in that song. During the whistle is an electronic track. The bass doesn't play much, etc.

Normal, important and expected. [For pop albums Walmart is usually bigger than iTunes in sales units.] I just preordered TOH from Walmart and they ship free. Had an email from them this morning offering TOH preorder. I'm not sure how large our local Walmart music CD section is these day. I'll have to check. WalMart online music orders are shipped from separate warehouses. CD business is shrinking so much -- Target music departments are down to about 1,000 titles. I hope they distribute "Ghost Town" to some alternative retailers Hot Topic, Urban Outfitters and so on.

I recently read in the business news section that Walmart is going to cut its album sales department way down. I went there a few days ago, and it was already so different than it used to be. I really long for the record stores of my youth. Some of them were multistory and they had tons of albums in every category imaginable. I remember shopping for hours at Virgin Records in NYC. It was like a playground for music loving adults.
BTW, my choice for an alternative retailer would be Starbucks. They carry very few albums but the ones that they have are usually quite good. I peruse them while waiting for my coffee.

Couple of comments on the thread today. The lyric is definitely 'daggers up in your eyes' aaaand I didn't think he looked that nervous at all. To me he came across as being cute, with his faux begging of 'some of you have pre-ordered my album right', lol, and then a exaggerated 'thank-you' with praying hands and his adorable chuckle. I think we Glamberts have his every nuance mapped out so that sometimes we assume we know what he is thinking. And as he has clarified in many interviews, we Clearly don't. lol. He moved so well on stage. I agree with others here that Evil in the Night works better live than Ghost Town, but that is just a matter of tweaking. I liked the way he had performed it on Ellen but that was not the vibe for a beach show. And lastly WELCOME To OUR NEWEST Member, Ghost!!!!! carry on.....

I watched the videos and I didn't think Adam looked nervous ,although he had plenty to think about.. a 10 minute set,a plane to catch for Europe, heavy traffic, lots of rain in the forecast and probably very little sleep the night before.. because he flew on the red eye from Las Vegas.. The man is a miracle man.. with the schedule he keeps.. Nervous Adam I doubt it.. rushed,tired...possibly He's a man who seems to have boundless energy, but I'm sure even superman might had a bit of a tired feeling... It may be as simple as he was expecting to go on later than he ending up going on. All I am sure of -- he looked great, seemed incredibly happy, and the vocal on GT was great particularly after the drop. And, of course, he said "Ladies and Gentlemen" and "Are you guys having fun." So all is good in the universe. The flubbed lyric is no big deal other than maybe to him personally. If nothing else it clearly proves to anyone who may still doubt that he is singing live. He sounded and looked fabulous to me! Absolutely no complaints or nits-to-pik.

Hell, think back to how he made his fall on that nameless stage back in the day, look planned. He is a true stage performer. He can handle whatever comes at him. That's what makes him so thrilling to watch!

This went badly. GT was #5 with the least amount of votes. By the time I saw it, it was too late to vote. I'll go back tomorrow. It made the Top 5 at#5, it was 5 of 14 songs. Did not come in #1 but made the Top 5 list. This ^^^^^. I'll take any place within the Top 5 list!
