I will join in the fav's game but before that, I just want to voice a little pique at the use of the term 'fan favourite' as almost a denigration...or at least prefaced with the word "just a..." We have no idea if the 'fan favourites' would be hits because, to date, none of the major ones have received the kind of push and attention that WWFM and now GT are getting..or did get. What if Fever got the first and great push that WWFM got....I do not believe that one pronoun would have killed that song...or that Adam would have refused a 'censored' version as he did for Ghost Town, for example. Ditto Shady...huge favourite on Trespassing from every poll I can remember! At all the GNT shows, Soaked was another 'fan favourite'...yes the 'powers that be' keep saying that was not radio friendly...well many of the largest hits of the last few years were NOT formulaic and therefore, were the most memorable...and awarded songs. All this is water under the bridge...except...that here we are insisting that certain songs that are loved by many fans, are simply not 'radio friendly'...but when you look at those songs that won the awards and rose above the herd...they could easily have also been counted as 'not radio friendly'...If that logic were applied to Adele or Sam Smith, before they broke out, would their music ever have been played? Or Lourde's "Royals" of Hoozier's "Take Me to Church" If "Someone Like You" can be a hit, explain why not There I Said It" or "Another Lonely Night"? {MY FAVOURITES ] I really want an answer to this question...not an 'its just a fan favourite' or 'not radio friendly' as those are not really explanatory...they feel like pats on the head to those who just 'don't get it'... Cause I really don't get it...I see exceptions 'to the rule' get play regularly..and I don't see a huge difference here. I did with Soaked because of the massive production but I don't see that with TISI...and it has been praised and reviewed highly by many reviewers and dj's. After all that, I really like the whole album...love GT, TOH, EITN...Shame is so fun...like Light and Heavy Fire, Lucy...even Rumors is starting to sound better. So it is not that I don't like the other tracks, it is that I hate the constant sidelining of TISI , especially, as if it were almost 'received wisdom'. Just a little comment about the thing about fan favorites not being single material, this is not just for Adam this is pretty much across the board. Often what appeals to the hardcore fan base the most is not generally going to be what is best for radio. Choosing a radio song has a lot of different parameters and many of the things that most people on fan sites complain about are the very thing that makes radio hits like for example repetitiveness.

Lucy seems to be loved/not loved the same way in that rock fans love it, but pop fans aren't crazy about it. But there is something for every kind of fan on this record. yes I agree...there is something for everyone on this album. Its a great Album. GREAT album. It's just plain GORGEOUS! And tonight I'm feeling very sentimental for QAL in Vegas exactly a year ago.....no better people than Atopians to share concerts and hangovers with! You know who you are!!

I have been avoiding commenting on my fave track on TOH because I didn't want to type "I love every track" but honestly I do .... They all evoke different emotions and moods for me - but there is not one song I can't connect with, including the bonus tracks.
If there was a gun to my head and I had to pick a fave or two I would say The Light and Lucy are top contenders - but I love love love the entire album.

This conversation regarding TOH (carried on from yesterday) is quite interesting. It seems to be the only song on the album that people feel strongly about..one way or the other. I have to join several U.K. / Europeans and also of course "some" US members when I say I am not a lover of TOH. I was hoping by today I could tell you exactly why..but I can't, sorry. It does nothing for me. My favourite by a long stretch is THE LIGHT. I could just play that over and over. I also like Lucy. and Shame is brilliant. I love all the tracks -- so not choosing. But I wonder if the divide is by genre and not be geography. There songs that seem to be less favorite for some are the dance pop tracks -- and of the dance pop track, the most dance pop, gay club worthy track on the album is TOH. It does not even need a remix. Are you a pop-rock and rock music fan? Versus dance pop fan? TOH is a club song, a dance song. Maybe that is why you are not a fan of it. "The Light" is a pop-rock anthem. Why is TL pop-rock? It reminds me a lot of the 90's Eurodance that was played here in the Netherlands a lot. That mostly because of the beat that kick's in after the first chorus and the lighter sound at the end of the song. That sounds so familiar. I know I have heard that one before in another song, but can't find that yet. I love all songs, but TL and EITN were great at first listen and they stay great. I've notice that GT is a little less now with the other songs around. Maybe because I've heard it to much, but still great to hear. Saw the video tonight for the first time on my TV (SLAMTV, the channel of SLAM!FM is channel of the month here). Still great to see that. My preferences in music are very wide. From rock to pop to dance/trance. I do need a melody though and it needs to stay at least a bit soft. Hard Rock, Hardcore and Hard Style for instance aren't really my thing. Maybe my fine senses (I'm HSP) aren't ready for that. I just looked at my first CD's I burned in 2001-2003 and I now understand some why my friends never let me DJ. They are quite the mess of songs just thrown together. Heavily influenced also by the state of mind from then and the boy I was in love with. First CD: open.spotify.com/user/119555340/playlist/7dmqDBUxegyqb7kZp3uQdASecond CD: open.spotify.com/user/119555340/playlist/4p9PLBy7TXQX7hpwUlsVTvPart 6 didn't have any dance songs on it anymore. Probably because the man I was in love with then didn't like them that much. It did have My Immortal (Evanescence), Mad World (Gary Jules & Michael Andrews), Troy (Sinead O'Conner), Hello (Lionel Richie), Dolphin's Cry (Live) and In the Shadow (The Rasmus)

Weird isn't it? TOH some like it...some hate it....(oh dear these familiar words!)..... It took me ages to get used to GT. I like it but I don't love it. Shame just makes me smile...so catchy and cute and different...it's great. I think, as it's the single, GT has just been overplayed so much, on his interviews, etc, etc, so I started to skip it on the album. I find that happens a lot with 'pop' for me... Maybe to fans who listen to every interview and listen to the song on repeat it seems like it's been overplayed, but to a "normal" person who might just listen to the radio in the car and maybe catch a TV performance or two (e.g. GMA, Tonight Show), they might hear the song two or three times a week of they're lucky. It's not being played once an hour on the radio (unfortunately!).

yes I agree...there is something for everyone on this album. Its a great Album. GREAT album. It's just plain GORGEOUS! And tonight I'm feeling very sentimental for QAL in Vegas exactly a year ago.....no better people than Atopians to share concerts and hangovers with! You know who you are!! Ah, yes. It was a bad, bad hangover I had as we gathered at the Pink Taco! Tried to be sociable, but I was green, not pink! I can't make any sense of what is 'radio friendly' for TOH. How can one predict? Look at Sam Smith's "Lay Me Down"; look at Hozier's "Take Me To Church"; look at music from Adele and Lorde . . . aside from Maroon 5 and TS, how can one 'predict' with any kind of certainty what will click with the radio listeners? I really think it's all happening behind the scenes; we are being manipulated into liking what we like; not for every song, but for many songs out there today. And, I don't know how it's happening. So please don't ask me why I feel this way. I love TOH - and the only song I leave the room for, or find a chore to do or a task that takes me away from the music, is 'Underground'. I love the intro, but then it becomes repetitive in my head. I don't dislike it; it just doesn't take me anywhere; least of all, underground. When I first listened to the entire album, I didn't feel a thing - didn't even like - the three bonus tracks. Actually, I think my head was so full of amazement I couldn't go there. Now that I've become married to all these tracks I can say I LOVE the bonus tracks - each one in its own way. There were nights in my life that I just had to get in the car and drive away. And I did. It would have been better if 'After Hours' helped me find my way. I would still be alone; but with that voice and that kindred emotion. I'm hoping TOH will be the next single; but 'Ghost Town' still has a long way to go! Heard it twice this morning! Just thrills me to hear Adam's voice saying "This is my new single" on 101.3 or 104.9 - - - I become a whirlwind on the freeway! I think I'm on the 5th time TOH is spinning at home today. There are seven - SEVEN - deer out back right now . . . do you think it's the greenery that's bringing them close, or 'These Boys'???
