This conversation regarding TOH (carried on from yesterday) is quite interesting. It seems to be the only song on the album that people feel strongly about..one way or the other. I have to join several U.K. / Europeans and also of course "some" US members when I say I am not a lover of TOH. I was hoping by today I could tell you exactly why..but I can't, sorry. It does nothing for me. My favourite by a long stretch is THE LIGHT. I could just play that over and over. I also like Lucy. and Shame is brilliant. I love all the tracks -- so not choosing. But I wonder if the divide is by genre and not be geography. There songs that seem to be less favorite for some are the dance pop tracks -- and of the dance pop track, the most dance pop, gay club worthy track on the album is TOH. It does not even need a remix. Are you a pop-rock and rock music fan? Versus dance pop fan? TOH is a club song, a dance song. Maybe that is why you are not a fan of it. "The Light" is a pop-rock anthem. How would you classify TIST?

"The Light" is a pop-rock anthem. I had tried to work out why I am not a real fan of TOH.....I find it very slightly annoying...there I said it...!!!!! I love all the songs I really do. In general in answer to your question I am a rock fan...but I also like other genres. To me it very much depends on the individual song. The "pop rock anthem" the Light is just my cup of tea. I do think though that the album is brilliant inasmuch as it is really current and should appeal to the younger fans. I love Adam's voice at the moment on this album...so mature and rich and calm and controlled and beautiful.....oh dear time for bed....!!!!!

I will join in the fav's game but before that, I just want to voice a little pique at the use of the term 'fan favourite' as almost a denigration...or at least prefaced with the word "just a..." We have no idea if the 'fan favourites' would be hits because, to date, none of the major ones have received the kind of push and attention that WWFM and now GT are getting..or did get. What if Fever got the first and great push that WWFM got....I do not believe that one pronoun would have killed that song...or that Adam would have refused a 'censored' version as he did for Ghost Town, for example. Ditto Shady...huge favourite on Trespassing from every poll I can remember! At all the GNT shows, Soaked was another 'fan favourite'...yes the 'powers that be' keep saying that was not radio friendly...well many of the largest hits of the last few years were NOT formulaic and therefore, were the most memorable...and awarded songs. All this is water under the bridge...except...that here we are insisting that certain songs that are loved by many fans, are simply not 'radio friendly'...but when you look at those songs that won the awards and rose above the herd...they could easily have also been counted as 'not radio friendly'...If that logic were applied to Adele or Sam Smith, before they broke out, would their music ever have been played? Or Lourde's "Royals" of Hoozier's "Take Me to Church" If "Someone Like You" can be a hit, explain why not There I Said It" or "Another Lonely Night"? {MY FAVOURITES ] I really want an answer to this question...not an 'its just a fan favourite' or 'not radio friendly' as those are not really explanatory...they feel like pats on the head to those who just 'don't get it'... Cause I really don't get it...I see exceptions 'to the rule' get play regularly..and I don't see a huge difference here. I did with Soaked because of the massive production but I don't see that with TISI...and it has been praised and reviewed highly by many reviewers and dj's. After all that, I really like the whole album...love GT, TOH, EITN...Shame is so fun...like Light and Heavy Fire, Lucy...even Rumors is starting to sound better. So it is not that I don't like the other tracks, it is that I hate the constant sidelining of TISI , especially, as if it were almost 'received wisdom'.

I like it but I don't love it. Shame just makes me smile...so catchy and cute and different...it's great.

Thanks, Theosgma. I debated about posting. Glad you didn't kill the messenger. You are correct; it is a minor miracle that he is doing so well. Glad WBM seems to have the long view in mind. A dose of reality is a good thing. Much needed and can go alomg way in preventing some of the drama and panic that happens when someone has a less than rosy viewpoint.

"The Light" is a pop-rock anthem. Lucy seems to be loved/not loved the same way in that rock fans love it, but pop fans aren't crazy about it. But there is something for every kind of fan on this record. yes I agree...there is something for everyone on this album. Its a great Album. GREAT album.

I love Shame! Though I do like TOH, much better imo than GT... Weird isn't it? TOH some like it...some hate it....(oh dear these familiar words!)..... It took me ages to get used to GT. I like it but I don't love it. Shame just makes me smile...so catchy and cute and different...it's great. I think, as it's the single, GT has just been overplayed so much, on his interviews, etc, etc, so I started to skip it on the album. I find that happens a lot with 'pop' for me...
