My earlier comment on Exit Festival was only about the word 'biggest' used and I wanted to give some perspective. It was by no means directed to quality that I know nothing about. Also most really big festivals do have variety in their offerings despite their name containing rock or pop or something else. When a festival is 'big' the term is relating to a number, it's quantifiable - and audience is the most common denominator. Sure there are other measurements that can be applied to describe a festival more accurately and they should envelop several aspects like long tradition/history, large audience, functionality (transport, services on site f.ex.), performers (status and number). Reaching good marks on all these makes a festival 'good' or 'prestigious', I'd say. Also reviews and visitors' experiences should be taken into account in the assessment. And more: Like any venture, festival is successful if it finds a good balance between costs and revenues but it needs to have everything working smoothly and nothing disastrous happening as well. ETC. ETC. But how to choose 'the best festival'? It could be a jury or it could be a customer survey but I believe it's based on more comprehensive set of factors. To score a nomination like that is no small feature and it should be prominently used in marketing. Personally, I'd prefer to attend a festival like Exit (like I remember reading about it previously) being no fan of masses but enjoying smaller crowds, unique settings and variety in music. But you picked my slant very accurately, toramenor, I've been working in organising festivals.
