Gaga does not lip sync. I have seen her show 3 times. She uses a heavy backing track and lets it take over when her dancing is very involved. Otherwise, she is live over the track. Katy Perry is the same way. Britney definitely lip syncs. Don't look at me. I just quoted the article. From what I gather, when Gaga is doing a big production number she uses a heavy backing track, but sings along with it. This is common, because with the amount of dancing and movement the number requires, she would have difficulty maintaining proper breath support for consistent vocals. The backing track would smooth it out and cover the glitches, times she runs out of breath, etc. Perhaps when she is doing the most complicated choreography she is not actually producing sound, but is lip-syncing. I believe the article is accurate in saying that most of the big pop singers do this. To me, that is cheating. If I pay big bucks to go to a live performance, I want it to be LIVE, not the sound I can hear on my iPod. However, that is the style, the norm for those big pop shows. If audiences want the pageantry, the movement, the flying in on props, the vigorous dance moves, then the live, unadorned vocals are nigh to impossible. I think for most concert goers, support from backing tracks and backing singers is expected and accepted practice. Adam has used vocal backing tracks of the melody as well as the harmonies on this most recent group of performances. Not sure why, but I assume it gives him the depth he wants while singing the less resonant, less showy, pop/top40 sound he is going for this era. Not my cuppa, but, as I often say, I ain't his target demographic. I want him to sing "Bring Him Home" just standing still on stage. Just Adam and his glorious voice. Yeah, ain't gonna happen. Oh, well.

My daughter posted on my Facebook wall today lol!:
There is a first time for everything: This morning I heard a song on the radio and wondered who it was because I wanted to buy the song. Adam. Lambert. 1) I liked it. 2) It hadn't been sent to me 17 times by my mother. Your welcome. Deanna: You must be ignoring my Adam posts on Facebook, since you hadn't heard it wink emoticon Like · Reply · 1 · 2 hrs
Carolyn: well when one is inundated with it, it gets overlooked. But I did just buy his album....and you didn't have to buy it for me. I'm supporting your suedo-son with his Italian shoe collection. your welcome. wink emoticon Unlike · Reply · 1 · 2 hrs

I' m still confused how Adam & WBM make money if Adam doesn't sell many albums or any artist for that matter. I am enroute to NYC waiting to take off so I will apologize in advance for a brief, simple answer. The labels including WMG have at least 17 different revenue streams from recorded music. As sales decline other revenue streams emerge. Artists , songwriters and producers share in those revenue streams. WMG is privately held so hard to get much info from the outside except that they make money.

You know, people seem to forget that these tours the artists do are huge. Produced to the max. Of course she sings to a backing track, the music needs to fill an arena. BUT, she can sang!!!!!!!!!!

Yes, she CAN sing. Still, it seems to me I saw a singer last summer in a huge arena. It was a big production. Lots of smoke and lights and sets. Costumes. Two stages. The guy's voice filled that arena top to bottom, front to back, and bounced off the rafters. It sounded ADAMIZING, and there were no backing tracks at all. He didn't need any. Just sayin'.

Top 20 Greatest Kept Hollywood Secrets: 10. Most Pop Stars Lip-sync Onstage It’s not easy singing your heart out night after night. The grueling lifestyle of a touring musician is not an enviable one. Sleep deprivation, the struggles of staying in shape, keeping your vocal chords loose and ready to belt each high note to crowds of thousands is no easy task. Naturally, some pop stars decide to cut corners wherever possible. Because a robotic, autotuned sound is a small price to pay for perfection, right? While some musicians experimented with live overdubbing during performances before him, Michael Jackson was one of the first artists to blatantly let the machine do the singing for him onstage. Fans argue this was a necessity so he could perform his complex dance routines without passing out. Whatever the reason, the effect was clear. Michael Jackson Live Performance Videos – Order now Today, it’s rare to find a pop act that performs any live vocals at all. Britney Spears, Lady Gaga, and Madonna almost always mouth along to a recording, and frequently that recording has had so many effects applied to it in post-production that it sounds nothing like their actual singing voices. Ashlee Simpson famously stormed offstage during her performance on “Saturday Night Live” after the crew began playing the wrong track. Whether or not this practice is a cheap cop out or just part of the show is up to you, but the fact remains that real, unfiltered vocals are getting rarer by the minute in pop music. www.hollyfame.com/top-10-greatest-kept-hollywood-secrets-of-all-time/10/Maybe Sam Smith should think about lip synching. His Raleigh concert got cancelled/postponed last night due to not having enough rest after his vocal surgery.
