oooh, cassie, while you're right here: what does that mean, waiting "for his voice to mature?" At what point is a man's voice mature? and how might Adam's change/improve (!!!)? ETA: also, what does leggiero tenor mean? Is that something you could explain to a musical dolt like me? (Sorry, you're getting bombarded today, and it isn't even the masterclass thread!) A man's voice is fully mature by the time he is in his mid-thirties. Of course, most of the maturity happens during the growth spurt and hormonal flood in adolescence, but the voice mechanisms still continue to change later on. The change is usually in terms of range --- may expand some of the lower register --- and depth, may develop a fuller, possibly richer resonance. Can you imagine what Adam's range (already remarkable) and tone will be like in another five years????? A leggiero tenor has a higher upper register than a regular tenor. The tenor range is commonly thought to be about the C below middle C (C3) to the C above middle C (C5). A leggiero tenor may have a range that extends another half an octave or so, up to the F5. This is in full head voice, not in falsetto. The voice tone also tends to be light and clear. (Sounds like Adam, right? That high note in Fever and SFW is an F#5 in concert, but, unbelievably, he sings a full voice A5 in Crawl Thru Fire and PTFM. That's incredible, even for a leggiero.) Sometimes the leggiero also has a rich lower register with an almost baritone sound. That's Adam, too. In the San Diego article with opera folks talking about his voice, some said it was a baritone. ETA: I may have lost you there with mentioning specific notes. Let me put it this way.... a soprano is the highest female voice type. A mezzo soprano (middle soprano) has a voice higher than an alto but not quite as high as a soprano. It is the most common female voice type. A leggiero tenor can sing almost as high, or as high as a mezzo soprano, but also can sing lower than an alto. Impressive, much?

I just got one of these auto calls and almost hung up... good thing I gave it a few secs - it was from Andrew Cuomo urging to call our state legislators in Albany (NY State capital) to get them to pass the"Marriage Equality" act!!!! I am so happy these calls are made! Love the Cuomos! Now I am going too find out whom to call in Albany.

LOL! " Apologies to Adam and all his fans! This was obviously a HUGE error which we've now amended. But don't you think Miranda and Adam would make a slightly odd yet very nice couple!?"

CassieSo glad you're on ATop. We know we like what we hear and that what we hear is unique but you're able to explain the "hows" and "whys" and I find it all just fascinating. I won't even click on the JD article. I truly tried to listen to him with an unbiased ear and did not find him anywhere near Adam's abilities. I won't even go click on that article because I know it won't change my mind. What are they drinking thinking? Add me to #TeamCassie

It's so obvious you're a teacher. Terrific.

What is everyone planning to get the happy couple as a wedding gift? Should we suggest Adam and Miranda do another fan fundraiser? Something for the country music hall of fame? This is all too funny. Cassie, I was just with my cello teacher. I was talking with her about Adam (I want to learn to play WWFM on the cello). Since I don't even know how to play some of the notes he hits, it will be awhile. :-/ If you have a minute, I have a favor to ask. I wanted to tell her about Adam's voice/range, but I didn't know just what to say. Can you give me a little blurb? My teacher is quite skilled at many instruments, does composing, etc. so, she would be able to "get" a technical explanation. If you don't have time, I totally understand. Thanks!
