We always try to take the high road here on Atop. Don't you think that ought increase our odds in the 2% bracket? (Can we pretend we didn't read the flow chart, tho...) :

Oh ya, huh? It's past 6:00 across the International date line, right? Nope, not quite yet. It's 2.15pm on the 21st here and NZ is the first country in the world to see a new day. So just under 4 hours to go. Bugger, I wonder if I've got time to go to the supermarket first. 8-) But on the other hand, the prediction is for 6.00pm, 21/05/11 ET time and that's just under 20 hours away. Was just wondering, given the enormity of the event, if this should be posted in the numbers thread : And congratlations Danilo - glad you made it in time WELL DONE!

ETA: If the rapture is gonna be here in just a few hours, do I really have to drag my carcass to the grocery store this late to get milk for tomorrow morning?? Depends on how enraptured your family is with no milk, I guess

Popping in quickly because I was suddenly reminded of a post geezlouise (from Canada) placed the other day. I truly hope that someday SOON that this entire issue will become such an everyday facet of life in the U.S. that same sex marriage is no more than another garden-variety data box on a Census form. [sighs] On a serious note.. Hoppers, I look forward to the day there are NO boxes to check anymore. Might not come in my lifetime, but if I can live my life in integrity, perhaps I have helped someone else. [snicker] Well, its the Census Bureau. They're gonna insist on the boxes, or the world as they view it really WILL come to an end! ;D Those guys are persistent too! I was bad and didn't fill out my census form when it first showed up (um...or the second time). They then showed up on my front porch early one morning and happily filled out their forms while I was still in pajamas! (Ok - now that I've relayed that embarrasing bit, I really AM going to get the milk, Rapture or no Rapture!)

I know this seems really tame, but forget the diet. I'm ordering a pizza with everything! :D

That's HUGE. And the clear majority of Catholics believe it should be legal too. I REALLY think as people step away from the emotion (and whatever bill of goods they had been sold during a campaign), people will continue to examine it with more clarity. Bottom line: Nobody's marriage affects yours. End. Of. Story. The Prop 8 issue in CA was nuts – every emotion, history and allegiance was played upon, but I think people have gained perspective. My mom is a devout (recently returned) Catholic who believes in human rights. However, the rhetoric that was delivered during the prop 8 campaign was, "Civil unions are the same thing!" Which she wanted to believe (but I have a hunch, she didn't). In her Bible classes she defends people's right to love and to share affection, no matter how it's expressed. She's 73 and believes firmly that people have a right to love whomever they choose and have a right to express that love no matter what. There are tiny, incremental changes happening, everywhere. It is often who VOTES that matters or who harasses and threatens their political representatives. It's like admiring Adam but not buying his music or attending his concerts, a big friggin' fail.

Moved to a new neighborhood and I think my neighbor has seen me scooting across the street to the mailbox more in my jammies and pink bathrobe than not. WWFM???

Now totally OT, but while I *respect* Bach music, I'm not that into it. Listening to Bach is like listening to musical math equations. Intellectually interesting, but pretty much devoid of any emotion. Admittedly, a lot of Baroque music in general strikes me that way. ETA: If the rapture is gonna be here in just a few hours, do I really have to drag my carcass to the grocery store this late to get milk for tomorrow morning?? Do you live near a beach? Do you have syrup?
