Ok finally got the chance to sit down and watch it properly...A few thoughts. Overall a phenomenal moment. The audience really made the show work. It was just very powerful and awesome. SO much so it was able to overcome a few weaknesses... They are definitely a bit rusty... - Adam lyrically was all over the place tonight LOL. I mean he kept it together and nothing ever trainwrecked completely but it was several songs. Nothing unforgivable May have been from being so amped. - Brian had some sweaty fingers I think a few times, during some solos. - Roger came in a bit early at one point during Magic and almost during UP. - And of course Save Me. Which from what I can tell had nothing to do with Adam's mic going dead...if anything it was his monitor went and he couldn't hear the band because he flat out missed his cue. Either that or Brian did. Adam just started the chorus a beat late...and then Brian was caught waiting for him so there was just nothing for a minute...Not sure who was following who lol. Roger and Spike just kept it going and both Brian and Adam caught up quickly and saved it by the second part of the chorus...It didn't ruin the song but I can tell you if they do a DVD/Blu-Ray of this - I wouldn't be surprised if Save Me is either cut or more likely fixed afterwards And this - Not sure if it was the band's mix or if it was the Rock In Rio stream mix - I'd wager the latter...but the inconsistent mix was bloody awful at times. Roger's backing vocals were non-existent at times! Neil (and Rufus?) are ok for middle background vocals but when those are the voices you hear (as in Show Must Go On for example) instead of Rog? It's nowhere near as powerful. This may be my personal preference but I love hearing Rog's backing vocals ringing out as the loudest of the BVs. It adds a lot hearing his gruff high notes on Fat Bottomed Girls and Show Must Go On. The other bad part of the stream is that Spike's keys were WAY too out in front of the mix - specifically during I Want It All. Sounded very 80s because of it. The bass, drums, and guitar worked well as did Adam's vocals and Brian's. NOW the positives: The audience. As I said - they just made it a magical moment. Love of My Life and Bo Rhap were simply put amazing. WWTLF and Show Must Go On as well The vocals - All 3 vocals shined in their moments. Adam was confident, glorious when needed to be but not overdone. Rog's lead was strong and nice to hear and even Brian was stronger than he had been in recent years. Ghost Town - WORLDS better than Sao Paolo and I liked Sao Paolo. This version works well for me...I understand why some might like the house version better but this seems much more warm and groovin' - great work by Neil as well. Adam had a bit more subtlety here which really worked in his favor. In the beginning of the collaboration he almost seemed to be trying too hard whereas now he's comfortable just singing the songs, performing them along side friends instead of idols and the flow is just much better that way. Thanks for your observations - and for explaining some of the things I was hearing but have no expertise to describe. But even with the problems, it was a phenomonal event and I think everyone enjoyed the experience. I love the rock GT - as much as the original. And I really like seeing people so obviously having fun while performing. A treat all the way around.

..... - And of course Save Me. Didn't see him trying to sing into a dead mic. Heard him miss his cue and thought maybe there was a monitor problem. Either he was waiting for it to be fixed or waiting for the next phrase to get back in sync with the rest of the band. I think it threw him a little, as he also lost his place (and quickly corrected) right before Brian's solo. The perfectionist he is, he won't allow that on the DVD. Wonder how they would fix it? But, was Queen filming this for a possible DVD or are you thinking they would use the TV feed?......They are planning on releasing a DVD of the Australia recording and I doubt they will release a DVD of Q+AL in Rio very soon after that. They did not have a crew that matched what they did in AU but if they wanted to release a Q+AL Rio DVD, I hope they leave that "Save Me" miscue in -- because it would make it real. The other wonderful moment was when Adam was singing and laughed in the middle of a line. It was wonderful. And it is the kind of thing Adam would want to cut. >> Live Concert DVD do not sell that well anymore, so I think the fact the we will get one -- and a 2 disc DVD -- for sure is great.

These little glitches or oops-es are what make live performances "dangerous" and interesting. Fun to see the recoveries as well as the slips. Now if you want to hear a really big flub-up, listen to this organist on the final chords of the Hallelujah Chorus! www.youtube.com/watch?v=1DBAoWr-imY

But I wanted to use the faster Mega download, and you need an account for that. Then it wouldn't let me download with Safari. I tried Firefox and it made me download an extension for that. So many steps that would have been saved if it would have let me reset my password. And of course I can't upload files without an account ... You could create another Mega account using a different email account. I have several email accounts that I don't use for anything but setting up accounts to various sites such as Mega, Facebook, etc. Do you mean the Mega Extension or the Mega Sync? I don't think Mega Extension requires a Mega account (it's been a long time since I installed it, so don't remember for sure). But Mega Sync does require an account. Mega Sync seems to work a bit like DropBox and wants to put stuff in a dedicated folder. It may be faster, but I think the direct browser download (with Mega Extension installed) is the most straight forward way to go, especially for the non-techie types. Q3 gave instructions for finding the direct browser download above. Mega works with Chrome and FireFox, and best with Chrome!!! I don't think Mega works with Safari at all, or with Internet Explorer. If you want to know why, here is an old (2013) article explaining why, but it has since been made to work with FireFox. news.softpedia.com/news/The-Full-Explanation-of-Why-Mega-Only-Works-in-Chrome-Snubbing-Firefox-IE-Safari-Opera-322708.shtmlI'm not sure whether it was Extension or Sync, all I know is I did get it installed and then successfully downloaded the Rock in Rio file. It just surprised and irritated me that Mega didn't have a way to recover or reset passwords, I think it is the first time I have ever run into that on a major site ... I really shouldn't have to drag out an ancient email and create another account ...

So when does anyone think the dvd would be released? Next year probably? Hopefully end of year. I think Adam has established himself as the worlds greatest pop/rock vocalist after this recent performance.

- Adam lyrically was all over the place tonight LOL. I mean he kept it together and nothing ever trainwrecked completely but it was several songs. Nothing unforgivable May have been from being so amped. Yup, lots of mixed up lines, and a couple of invented ones. May also have been because he has been so focused on TOH PR he didn't go back and review the Queen lyrics as much as he should have. Not saying he was unprepared, but he might have thought he knew them better than he did. Or, he knew them when he wasn't multi-tasking with all the other things during a performance.
Agreed.
- Brian had some sweaty fingers I think a few times, during some solos. Was that the reason? Never occurred to me. But I did hear him grab the wrong note or chord a few times. Makes more sense than choosing the wrong fret.Just a guess. He flubbed a few times. Sweaty hands made sense to me...or perhaps being overamped as well. It may be more old hat to him but I know it's still got to be a ton of adrenaline. It seemed like he didn't press down hard enough at times or it just slid a bit which is why I thought sweat.- Roger came in a bit early at one point during Magic and almost during UP. - And of course Save Me. Which from what I can tell had nothing to do with Adam's mic going dead...if anything it was his monitor went and he couldn't hear the band because he flat out missed his cue. But, was Queen filming this for a possible DVD or are you thinking they would use the TV feed?Queen films EVERYTHING of course and would probably ask for the feeds to incorporate it. Like Q3 said they are working towards a Sydney DVD but I thought that they might include Rio as a bonus...or perhaps *SOME* of Rio. If they were to include Rio, they would fix it by flying in a different Save Me performance from the tour (since they record everything) most likely and simply use footage not showcasing that they are lost :D I know that for Milton Keynes (On Fire at the Bowl) Freddie cracked REALLY badly during FBG so when B&R released it in 04, they "flew in" a different performance from the same tour just for the one line.I'm in agreement with all the positives. Thanks for your take on things.
No problem

I pretty much agree with your take. The sound mix was messed up -- but some parts were glorious. Certainly not all of it was bad - but when it was bad it was awful. The best mixes are the ones where I don't think about it. Usually for DVDs of Queen they are spot on so I don't even notice the mix. Some are more sticklers and get caught up on little things. The first "official" Queen mix I hated was on the YT vid of Stone Cold Crazy from the US QAL tour -which MUST have been an untouched mix. This mix had okay moments. Rog's vocals got better towards the end but there were times when I just didn't get what sound they were going for!I think the lyrics misses (and only mega fans would notice most of them) were a bit funny. I laughed a few times...Some of the problems seems to have been because they were really pushing the gaps between songs and a couple of times someone or another was not ready. Great point. Different set and trying to fit as much in as possible - made it a bit tougher to keep the flow but they did well not letting it show.I think by the end of this mini-tour, GT may be epic. Adam and Brian both made adjustments in the Rio version and the net effect was amazing. I think they can take it up a notch or two from here. Most interesting to me is how much fun everyone was having on stage in Rio. They are all seem to have become so comfortable working together. The evolution of Q+AL is just a beautiful thing to see -- and so unlikely and rare. That I definitely noticed - they have a ball together and it doesn't seem like it's getting old for them so hopefully we get more :)

Oh it definitely won't be a separate DVD - I thought one of the reasons they held back though was for bonus footage of Rio. I could be wrong but it seemed like something they'd want documented. If Save Me was an option, it isn't anymore
