Thank you for your lovely posts. My mom was 3 weeks away from being 95. She was in a nursing home, but I had dinner with her every night, unless I am out of town. Last night she was fine. Today when I went, the ambulance had just arrived and the nurse was getting ready to call me. Her breathing was very labored and she was disoriented. She passed away, in the hospital, 2 1/2 hours later. She became alert long enough to look at me and hold my hand. It was very peaceful and absolutely no pain.
Take comfort in that, Pat.
My deepest condolence and sympathy to you and your family!

I'm kind of speechless here... I guess when someone reaches the ripe old age of 95, the expectation is that they could take flight to the next world at any time, but for your mom to be "fine" last night, then suddenly gone today--really with "no notice" so to speak... it must be kind of unreal for you. Unbelievably touching that she looked at you and held your hand. omg I want to post and :2tears: and all at the same time.
