Thank you all for your support. It's kind of weird right now realizing I can take the gate off of my bedroom door and don't have to close the bathroom door to keep Scamp from peeing on the rug, etc. Our friend Dareth came over last night and there was no yelling dog to greet her. Michael had originally thought he would need to pick her up from Gainesville and bring her to his own vet because his vet does a paw print cast before cremating but when he spoke to the hospital it turns out that even though the crematorium up there doesn't do the casts the girls at the vet hospital who all had fallen in love with Scamp immediately had already done a cast themselves and are going to decorate it and send it to him with her ashes. He has the ashes of Cat's previous dog Sweetie and of course Cat's ashes so Scamp will be along side them.

Scamp is no longer with us. When they started to sedate her for surgery this morning she immediately went in to cardiac arrest and they were not able to resuscitate her. So sorry to hear this. I know you will miss her. Pets are part of the family and losing them is painful.

Needing some light today. My mom, 77, has been tired for the last several weeks, starting about halfway through a European vacation. Things took a turn for the worse this week with nausea and fever taking her to the emergency room and this morning after a bone marrow test she was diagnosed with acute leukemia. At one point the oncologist said she has three weeks to live. She and her partner have decided on chemotherapy that has about 30% chance of putting her in remission for a time. The nurse in the oncology department seems more optimistic but Mom does have about 35% of her bone marrow producing the wrong thing right now. She has a-fib and that can be a complicating factor too.

Oh No! Hopefully the chemo will bring her remission. What a bad thing to happen on vacation. You have had a very rough year! Hope your father is doing better these days. Sending positive thoughts and prayers for you and your family!!

Thank you stardust. Not much change in dad although we are looking at a knee replacement as he can't walk at all after a fall a week ago. Because I have been caring for him I haven't seen my mom as much this year as it was difficult to leave my dad by himself long to go over to her house and she didn't feel comfortable coming here as much, I was really expecting more years. I know you are dealing with elder care yourself. It's never good timing.

I have some sad news for everyone on my facebook today. My beautiful, sweet, funny husband Jerry passed away on the 19th of December. Jerry was not only my husband but my best friend. I never thought he would go before me. I was the sickly one. In December of last year, they discovered cancer in his right lung. He hadn't smoked in 36 years but I guess cancer doesn't care about that. His father also died of lung cancer.
We both did everything we could to fight it but cancer won. Dane and his family were here from December 9 to the 16 to say goodbye and of course Jesse was here everyday. Jerry did not want to die in the hospital so with the help of Kindred Hospice we brought him home. When he came through the door, his face was so peaceful so I knew we had done the right thing. I laid my head on his chest and we just held each other. I have a broken heart but I have so many memories of the fun we had through the years. We spent our retirement going to rock concerts all over the country and to the casinos in Biloxi.
Jerry and I had so much fun and we spent most of the time laughing. I know you all remember what a funny guy he could be. I miss him so already that I can hardly breath or stop crying. I cherish every day we had together. All 54 years. I found our marriage license signed by Joanie Mangino and Chico. That brought back all kinds of memories of all the bars we haunted when we were in Ithaca and young lovers all of us. How much fun we all had.
Everyone enjoy your holidays and laugh long and hard if you can.

Just a note to tell you I am with you everyday in spite of my poor health recently. Had a major heart attack June 9, and after going through several weeks of difficult breathing, the situation seems to be getting better. Adam continues to inspire while all of you on this site give me comfort. Thanks to everybody.
