I found this interesting, but too far off topic for the main thread- This is a tumblr showing/telling stories of many, many people struggling in these economic times. It is in support of the Occupy Wall Street protest movement. Mostly stories from young people. Lot's of stories of student loan debt being an overwhelming burden. Also medical bills, mortgage problems, disability issues, difficulty finding jobs, etc. Yes, lots of these stories reflect some poor financial choices, but until the current economic mess most of these choices were considered a good risk on the way to a bright future. Anyway. here's the link. Fascinating, whether or not you support the Occupy Wall Street protests- wearethe99percent.tumblr.com/peace&love I read a few pages of these stories the other day and didn't comment. I should have because they are important and the truth they are telling and trying to get the country to hear is important. I applaud their bravery and hope they have the stamina to continue their demonstration until and after the media begins to take them seriously. This voice needs to be heard. I, too, think these stories are important. During the 30's there was amazing photography (Dorothea Lange, among others) to help the country picture the economic struggles of those most hard hit by the Depression. I find that these stories serve some of the same purpose in today's deep recession. It is so moving and sad to hear the young people saying that they fear there is no positive future for them. Many other powerful stories from people of all ages - peace&love

Pennsylvania Man Set Ablaze by Friends for Being GayA man in Heidelberg, Pennsylvania, says he was set on fire by two former friends because he was gay. WPXI.com published a story today about Steven Iorio, 37, who says after a night of drinking in September, he woke up at a friend’s apartment around 3 a.m. and discovered his leg was on fire. He called another friend who urged him to go to the hospital. www.advocate.com/News/Daily_News/2011/10/21/Pennsylvania_Man_Set_Ablaze_by_Friends_for_Being_Gay

I have no word for the degree of darkness sitting inside a "human" who tortures another human being. It would be a grave injustice to many animals to say such people are like animals. They are far worse. And who are the mothers of these men?
