Religious judgement, shaming, and scarlet lettering is a weapon of mass spirit destruction, a patriarchal weapon used to control women and minorities that has killed untold numbers and has killed the spirits of that many more. It makes me sick the amount of power it still holds in this day and age.

I spent a fairly big chunk of my adult life living in Africa, so all things African is very near and dear to my heart. I think this video addresses issues that go way beyond Uganda and Joseph Kony, however. It's about social networking, people power, and rising up to say NO to outrageous injustice wherever you find it, and bringing it out into the light. If you've got 29 minutes, this little video is a MUST SEE.
** warning: don't watch without a box of kleenex nearby.

This article is horrifying !!! www.huffingtonpost.com/soraya-chemaly/womens-reproductive-rights_b_1345214.html?ref=tw10 Reasons the Rest of the World Thinks the U.S. Is NutsThis week the Georgia State legislature debated a bill in the House, that would make it necessary for a woman to carry a stillborn baby until she 'naturally' goes into labor just as, according to Representative Terry England, pregnant cows and pigs do. I have a question for Terry Edwards, Sam Brownback, Rick Santorum, Rick Perry and too many others: I have three daughters, two of them twins. If one of my twins had been stillborn would you have made me carry her to term, thereby endangering both the other twin and me? Or, would you have insisted that the state order a mandatory fetal extraction of the living twin fetus from my womb so that I could continue to carry the stillborn one to term and possibly die myself? My family is curious and since you believe my uterus is your public property, I am, too.

Wow! This is scary!!! Confidential Document Details NOM's National Strategies “Gay marriage is the tip of the spear, the weapon that will be and is being used to marginalize and repress Christianity and the Church.” So asserts a December 2009 internal document from the National Organization for Marriage titled “National Strategy for Winning the Marriage Battle,” one that details efforts to drive a wedge between gays and both African-American and Latino communities, as well as energize clergy opposed to gay marriage. more www.advocate.com/News/Daily_News/2012/03/27/Confidential_Document_Details_NOMs_National_Strategies/

YES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Thank you Obama!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Breaking News Alert The New York Times Wednesday, May 9, 2012 -- 3:10 PM EDT ----- Obama Tells ABC News Same-Sex Marriage Should Be Legal President Obama declared for the first time on Wednesday that he supports same-sex marriage, putting the moral power of his presidency behind a social issue that continues to divide the country. “At a certain point,” Mr. Obama said in an interview in the Cabinet Room at the White House with ABC’s Robin Roberts, “I’ve just concluded that for me personally, it is important for me to go ahead and affirm that I think same sex couples should be able to get married.” The comments end years of public equivocating over the divisive social issue for the president, who has previously said he opposed gay marriage but repeatedly said he was “evolving” on the issue because of contact with friends and others who are gay. Read More: thecaucus.blogs.nytimes.com/2012/....terview/?emc=naStill a ways to go: "The president stressed that this is a personal position, and that he still supports the concept of states deciding the issue on their own...Obama has endorsed marriage equality federalism—not the notion that marriage for gays and lesbians is a fundamental right guaranteed by the Constitution that can never be taken away. Obama has adopted the same position that Vice President Dick Cheney did in 2004, when Cheney said he believed in marriage equality but that the states should be allowed to decide by a show of hands, as North Carolina did Tuesday, whether gays and lesbians have the same rights as everyone else." www.motherjones.com/mojo/2012/05/obama-endorses-marriage-equality-federalism
