Since the game WILL be played in much of the media, I hope that Q3 will create a sub-forum for this "battle." An Idol 10 tour discussion group? A "media looking for hits" page? Something so that I don't have to see it unless I go looking for it. Hey, I can ask, right? Yes please. Me too. How about a James is an asshole thread? Actually, we have a thread under TV Reality Competitions, labeled American Idol Season 10 where this discussion would be most appropriate. It is not only for the show, but also for all AI10 discussions including the tour and after.

I will not comment. I will not comment. I will not comment. .... Oh, hell. One more time. James' comments sound like the athlete's "trash talking" about the opposition. It generates a buzz and gets attention. It's some sort of throw back macho challenge the alpha thing. And, be prepared..... we are gonna be reading and hearing it over and over again all summer long while the Idol kids tour. The media is gonna be following like vultures, and looking for the carnage if this tour tanks like last year. Whether the country girl or the country guy win, the last two acts of the show are not gonna be thrilling, original, outrageous, visually compelling, provocative, or scream inducing. Comparisons between the "Durbinators" and the "Glamberts" and the vocals are gonna be the best opportunities for hits and readership. And, since James is soooo easy to set up to make a ridiculous or incendiary statement about Adam, it will happen over and over again. We are all gonna have to just tough it out. The real test of James' claims will come with the release of Adam Unlocked and James' yet to be officially announced renaissance of metal album. My predictions: 1. Adam Unlocked is gonna be critically and popularly acclaimed and cement his place as a phenomenal singer, entertainer, and (hopefully) song writer. He will leave the Idol and Glam labels behind and be acknowledged and embraced. 2. James will NOT be releasing a big label heavy metal rock album. Despite his Idol exposure, the industry will not support it. There is absolutely zilch evidence that the record buying public is clamoring for a metal revival. The metal heads that do exist will likely shun an Idol or download the music illegally. There just isn't any profit in it for TPTB. 3. James may release some kind of rock/pop album on a major or semi-major label. It will be highly enhanced with auto-tune and other electronic tweaks. It will have limited success. Male rock/pop is just not happening these days. We all recognize that Adam is the major exception, and it is only because he is so exceptional. James will probably be one of those Idols who make one album and get dropped. Fading away to small gigs with an alt band. 4. If James insists on making a metal album, his only option will be to get released by TPTB and go the indie route. He'll have success at some level in the indie market, but never be a major player. Even going the indie route it's gonna be a tough sell. Does he have the moxie to court and woo the producers and win a chance? Questionable. My hope for this summer is that we can ignore the baiting game the media will play with James vs. Adam. I don't want to deal with it. It makes me cranky and has no positive purpose. Since the game WILL be played in much of the media, I hope that Q3 will create a sub-forum for this "battle." An Idol 10 tour discussion group? A "media looking for hits" page? Something so that I don't have to see it unless I go looking for it. Hey, I can ask, right? Once again (or as always) you are a voice of reason and I agree with your assumptions here. BUT the funniest thing about it is I assume you/we/me too have already named Adam #2 - Adam Unlocked! hahaha, so until he tells me/us otherwise, I too will refer to his new upcoming album as Adam Unlocked. More fun to say than just Adam 2 8-) ETA: In regard to putting comments on the main news thread: I would agree that if there is a current comment made by someone/anyone, even JD, about Adam that it would be daily news. I read if interested or scroll if not. Always appreciate it when the main news thread has the daily happenings or comments as they relate to Adam.

What about comments (about Adam) from the producers, music directors, vocal coaches, etc from AI? Would those discussions belong here on the Main Thread or in the AI thread? I'm confused? Did Gaga say something about Adam? I looked back in the thread and couldn't find anything? Maybe we need a "All Things Gaga" thread! LOL ETA: Stardust, okay- just checking.

People were asking for a special thread and was merely saying that we already have one.

From Slezak (also posted in the AI10 thread)
American Idol‘s presumed third-place finisher Haley Reinhart “is rehearsing right now” as a possible substitute for finalist Lauren Alaina, a source close to the show tells TVLine.com. Alaina, who lost her voice earlier today, says the show insider, is receiving “medical attention” in an attempt to take the stage for tonight’s performance finale, which will air in less than 45 minutes on Fox. Reports of Lauren’s illness first broke on TMZ.com. Within the last 30 minutes, American Idol‘s official Twitter feed sent out a photo of Alaina and fellow Top 2 contestant Scotty McCreery getting their hair and makeup done for tonight’s show.
The story is developing…

JMO, but when anyone slams Adam, I pretty much expect to come here and find discussion about it. If we can have pages and pages of comments on the study of genetics, it would seem that we would have a place in the main thread for discussion on comments made about Adam in the media. What Durbin said about Adam (and his album) doesn't seem to fall under the category of off-topic discussions. IMO, it has a place on Main as much as twitter rants about Adam from Monte's wife. I'm not condoning engaging James or his fans on twitter, but I do expect to read some minimal outrage or WTF? type comments on an Adam fan board. I don't have a problem discussing it here. I just don't like the comments on the articles defending Adam. It makes them write more, makes us look fanatical and makes James more popular.

Yep!! Sports teams do this all the time. So dramatic. : No chance for Haley to practice....Right ;D Idol has already tweeted that it is rubbish. I think Idol and TMZ are in cahoots this year. And, I think Nigel really wants Lauren to win. He is just stirring up her fans! He tweeted about an hour ago that he thinks Scotty will be the biggest seller of all Idols evah!! :
