Well it seems that a lot of the old guard bands have this stuck up attitude towards AI, but come on, if this show was around when they were busting their balls to make it they woulda jumped on it. At least 50 % of them would I'm sure. But now that they made it they seem to take on a holier then thou attitude about the whole thing which sucks, especially the ones who go on the show to pimp their shit--tv, song, movie--and then still stick their nose up at it. Gimme a break. It's not a perfect show by any means but don't begrudge the contestants--for the most part they are people who are talented and hungry to make it and have been working to make it happen but not getting anywhere. Well, for the most part. Teenage country bots excluded. LOL So, supposedly, they are maintaining their rock cred because it is not really U2 but just Bonoiand the Edge!! GIVE ME A BREAK!!! Divas much!! Bono and The Edge are the faces of U2!! In my book, I am seeing U2 perform with the cast of Spiderman! ;D To be fair, it was the writers of Pop & Hiss who put this slant on the story. It's more of their attitude than U2's. U2 put this up on their web site according to the article: U2 are not performing on American Idol this Wednesday.
Bono and Edge will appear alongside Reeve Carney, who plays Peter Parker, and cast members from SPIDER-MAN Turn off the Dark which is set to open on Broadway, June 14 It's not U2 just Bono and Edge. LOL! Still, it's not nearly as bad as the article itself.

You know it really would be great to have some/one TV executive actually adress what they saw so different between the acceptability of these videos...seriously. They must have some sort of reason in their minds and I would love to hear it explained. Is it truly just homophobia? If so....how do they justify all the gay sex showing up in mainstream dramas? Is it really more palatable when it is females? Why? Is Adam making a difference? Is he following a trend?, setting a trend? or an exception to the rule? Things are changing very fast, it seems to me, and it is possible that when Adam next wants to perform a sexually charged song on TV, that the inevitable hoopla that surrounds it won't lead to editing, cancellations or bans. That said, this performance is a lot tamer to me than Adam's in a couple of ways. 1) It's not raw or real, there is no spontaneity, RiRi and Brit's moves except for a moment of pole-dancing lite aren't really suggestive at all. (And since I can take pole dancing classes at the gym now, how racy is that really?) 2) They don't interact with the other dancers at all until they hit them with soft pillows. (How freaky were those disembodied arms though?!). 3) There is nothing about costume or staging that challenges the status quo in any particular way. Their outfits are a little strip-joint, a little racy halloween costume (very light S&M references), but they are clearly fulfilling traditional roles of performing in traditional ways for the male gaze. They are not dominant or controlling the scene in any way, and the stripper poles randomly thrown in kind of reinforce this. 4) In the lyrics of the song the singer is happily celebrating the joys of being in the submissive role, it's not "can you handle what I'm 'bout to do...'cause it's gonna get rough for you" I like RiRi a lot, and find her naturally sexy, and this song is a guilty pleasure, but boundary pushing, it's not IMO. (The video, which we discussed awhile ago, is a little more unusual/interesting). __________________________________________________ Speaking of fierce women, I loved what Allison I. said in that Hollywood Reporter article: Can't wait to hear it!

Without a doubt. I have a totally random question. Does this painting remind you of Adam? I know it's not good likeness, but would you think of Adam if you happened upon it? Jamie, I have to disagree with some of the comments about this painting and Adam.. Does it look like Adam? Absolutely not! Does it remind me of Adam? Hell, yes! I think the fact that you bought this before you even knew about Adam is kind of amazing, in my book! Hang it on one your walls, woman! Mys*&@^#r,I think I will! It will be my own little secret adam portrait. ;D And I'm so happy you see what I see, helps to feel less cuckoo. I loved all your responses, Sutan, Eartha Kitt, I can totally see it and I like them so it still works. glamnana sorry about the arthritis but you made me laugh. So jealous midwifspal of you seeing that exhibit and glad you love him too. And I agree with tour description of his painting as a mix of grotesque and beauty and have no problem with the graphicness. I was thinking more about which ones I could hang on my wall without having to answer a question from my nieces or nephews..."Why do you have a picture of an angry man sticking out his thingy?" The younger ones already giggle at a few others that a butt or a breast on display. : The other self portrait you posted doesn't remind me at all of Adam. Funny how we all look at the same thing and see something different. Yay! New Adam "merch"! At least in my mind.

Hmm a little irish band that made the big time ,but refuses to be gracious enough to help others in the business ? IMHO,They are using AI to gain support for the "Spiderman" who can't fly, without almost killing himself, musical. They have lost a fortune on Broadway. It's great that U2 has raised mega money for feeding and helping Africa & the world's poor..I give them kudos.I just don't understand the I'm better than the new kids coming up.. they were once the new kids coming up themselves. I always admire the way Adam lends his support to others in the business. IMO ,his generosity of spirit is so empowering to others. You just don't see that much from established groups, like KISS,U2,etc.

Slow day is slow! I just figured out one of the reasons why I love Adam! Someone posted on twitter this youtube of Tom Jones. My mother, and therefore I, never missed an episode of his TV show when it aired in '69 -'71. I would have been 7-9 years old. So, I was apparently imprinted with the vision/sound of a tall, dark haired, tight pants'd, big voiced sexy mofo from an early age. (Not that there is much of a comparison, mind you, but, some, no? .... Bueller?)

Shoot! Now I'm really bummed. My best friend's daughter is getting remarried at a fabulous resort in the keys on Oct 29 and she is flying some of us down early to go to Toga Night at Sloppy Joes on 10/27 for Fantasy Fest week. Dontcha just hate when that kind of thing happens? I wonder if he could switch it to November 21, that would be much better for me.
