ha. This forum is cool, but I am glad I jumped a couple of days here. So much angst to go around. Speed-reading through it: Opinions, I have no problem with i.e. 'that's not my kind of music' or 'my kind of outfit'. We all have opinions and tastes and it would be boring, if nobody expressed them. When it goes into 'what was he thinking?', 'how could he', 'he should have instead....', is when it starts bugging me, especially, when I read ten posts in the row complaining about the MC Hammer pants or something. Some days it feels like we are voting here and checking how many posts were there for the pants versus against them. Maybe its that idol hangover, your online voice counts mentality. No it doesn't. I usually love posts the most, if there is some new thought or aspect provided, something that tells me how someone got to a opinion, because, at least it gives me something to think about. I may agree or not agree, but its more of a discussion and less of a critique vs fangirling ping-pong match. And also discussions are what may be worth reading on a forum. Then of course there are the fun posts, and fact/info posts, and occasionally emotional posts, its all good, if it is not too angsty. So, omg he sings in front of an empty house, because maybe 10 % had to leave at 10 pm, that kind of stuff seems to tell more about the writer than the reality that happened at the show, so that can get to me. And occasionally, the over the top fangirl posts can be annoying too, but interestingly this happens less here, where you would expect it the most, but I do find such posts under youtube videos or reviews instead, and yep, they do bug me, when I see them. Most days here are a pretty good read though, just a few go a bit off kilter. I thought this show was a great opportunity to get exposure to younger fans, so who cares that it was only 90 % of the audience and not 100 %. Assuming that 10 % were already Adam fans, that leaves 16,000 new faces and ears to impress. What wonderful chance, and if he woke up many to pay more attention to him again or for the first time, then all is well. And I think he did that. To me the whole outfit worked because, yes the rapper reference was there, but also a few other things. Maybe he remembered there could be kids and parents that had not seen him since idol. This was a rather macho outfit, nothing girly what so ever, and it was young looking, but still in contrast to the others around him that night. It was an outfit that said to me: If you came here with per-conceived notions about me, then you might as well leave them at the door. It was a big FU to those that put him into a box, but also to those, who want to turn him into their personal Ken-barbie doll. Can you tell, I liked that outfit. Badass and hip, imo. Alright, got to run again.... ...oh and yeah for a QAL show in Brussels. If any city deserves it, this one is it.

I personally don't see anything in TL that would make it the obvious choice for a young crowd. Maybe for a 20s or 30s crowd, but not for a teens crowd which is what I think this crowd was mostly. Lyrically, it is much more mature that what teens usually go for. And club dance songs are not that big on US radio. Club dance songs are not big on US radio?? If you're talking about christian radio. Where do you think the songs in the clubs and parties come from? They are all remixes of hits that are getting played on the radio regularly. Couldn't be more wrong. Songs get in clubs after they hit radios, and songs particularly get famous and sell when people hear them in clubs. The "obvious" thing is that it has a very current trendy dance construction similar to other top dance hits. If You don't see it, It's because you haven't been in clubs lately or know what's in young people's playlist. It doesn't matter how symbolic the lyrics are, because people rarely care about lyrics but rather they move to the beat, and like it because of how catchy it is. The club remixes are not the same as the studio mix or even the radio mix. They are very different sounding despite starting with the same vocal tract. Generally, you do not hear the version being played on radio in the clubs. And even more rarely do you hear the version being played in the clubs on the radio. If the studio version of The Light is practically club ready as it is, then, IMO, it is not radio ready as is. And if Adam is not singing it at the smaller radio shows, then IMO, that is a very good indication that The Light is not being considered for radio release anytime in the near future. The tweens and teens are not frequenting clubs in large numbers. And not all 20s & 30s something folks are even into the club scene. I know far more young people who are not into the club scene that ones who are. So, IMO, it makes more sense to me to pick a single based on what would be popular on radio rather than what would be popular in the clubs. They can always have a club remix done for any radio single that they pick. We all have opinions on what would be the best next single and we are all entitled to express those opinions. But repeating the same opinion multiple times a day for multiple days is not going to change the opinion of people here. Those who agree will chime in with their agreement and those who do not agree will just start skipping over posts that are saying the same thing again and again. And after a while, it starts to sound less like an opinion and more like an agenda. But more importantly, no ones opinion here is going to change what Adam does.

I love that he is posting and loves his look. He was fresh and "on" last night. I'm still on a high from it. My only regret is that I didn't buy the meet and greet option when I had the chance - but now I will look forward to it so much more when I can do it on TOH tour.
