the collabs I've seen (not too many) seem to smell of MARKETING and nothing else... kind of = let's get the fans of another genre or another artist pay attention... I notice no enhancement to the performance of either one of the collab artists... So, for me - I don't want to hear anyone next to Adam , it would only take the precious time that I could be hearing his voice... I know I am a minority on this May be..............................but you're not alone : .

I'm with you Nica! The only people I might be interested in hearing him with are not people looking to do collaborations. I can think of people who would benefit if he worked with them, but not that many where it would be a benefit for Adam. I just want to listen to his voice. I agree that collabs are about marketing, but marketing is CRUCIAL right now, unfortunately. It remains to be seen if Top 40 radio is going to snub him again this era like they did with FYE. My hunch is no, especially if the material is as good as we're hoping (praying), anticipating ... I also tend to think they will feel he's "earned" his place during next era. However, by being linked to someone who is already a radio powerhouse, especially for Top 40, (or in our case in L.A., urban markets), it will be that foot in the door to anoint him as one of their go-to artists. Until that happens, they can still turn up their noses and use Idol or "whatever" as an excuse not to play him. I'm hoping they won't, by all means, but he's trying to crack a VERY tough market for any artist, much less a gay, white male. Anything he can do to that end is worth exploring, IMO. And once they've accepted him, they've accepted him and shouldn't be a fight after that. I'm kind of parroting Q3 here, but I'm not sure WHO exactly who would make a good marketing "date" for him. Some of the more popular collaborations have been between pop singers and hip hop guys. Hip hop guys/Adam doesn't seem like a natural fit to me. Working with some of the strong female singers would be a great vocal match (i.e. Pink, Xtina, etc) but doesnt' have crossover genre appeal (which seems to be the foundation of these collaborations). I personally have no interest in hearing him wth Kesha, although their friendship might make her open to it. That runs the risk of making it clear she can't sing, however. I might be more interested in a collaboration where the other partner is the writer and was willing to play up Adam's involvement. This might be a good way for him to work with Kesha, actually, since she is a pretty good writer. But would she promote him doing one of her songs if she wasn't performing on it too? I'm just rambling, and I admit to knowing next to nothing about the industry except what I've learned here. I'm just not convinced that there is a collaboration waiting untapped in the wings that would be as good for Adam as we speculate it would be.

Beyond the recording, music video, radio play, and tv appearances...if Adam were to do a duet or collab with someone and potentially have a big hit, what then would happen when touring? I would assume tours are set up with artists from the same label so since Adam deserves to be the headliner of his own tour...does the song then need to be with a limited list of artists who might be an opening act for him?

Well I saw Gaga in concert and she did 'Telephone' and Beyonce was not there so...it can and has been done. Usually either one part is changed or it's just added in recorded or something.

To me, collaborations are like tennis, you can WIN if you are paired with someone inferior, but what is the sense of accomplishment? It's always more satisfying to be evenly matched and enjoy and be proud of the whole experience no matter the outcome.
