I loved that interview with Haley. She said many things that Adam also has said (doubt if she had heard him say these things before because she did not seem to know much about past Idols). Two examples: - she likes the energy she gets from the audience which she gives back and they give back again; infinity symbol, anyone? - she likes to dress up and chooses clothes to fit the song; this is all part of performing. She said many nice things about Adam and thinks he is magnificent. Haley, we know he is! Haley appears to be very down to earth and does not take herself too seriously. I wish her the best! We closed - worst closing ever.Oh? [goes to check the member thread]

sooo... are you saying he needs to compromise and produce some piece of sh*t song just to get to the Top 40 stations? - That's OK, if it takes only one of those... but how will he get any cred after that? IMO he is here to stay and make music and not the crap that TOP 40 plays... (hope I am not offending anyone here... ) sorry but IMO, I really don't think Adam would think of a song like California Girls or Teenage Dream as a sh*t compromise. He loves pop music even if many of you here do not. I'm always a little bit surprised by the dismissal of pop music on this board. Many seem to want an album of Soaked type songs but I really don't think that is in the cards. I agree with everything Chunkey said. Adam wants hits, POP hits, to be specific. I would be over the moon if he had anything like California Girls on his album. I never liked pop but am slowly warming up to it. This is what Adam wants and I want to support him. I, too, would be over the moon if he had anything like Calif Girls. C'mon, how deep was IIHY? Adam did a great job sitting on a stool singing Tracks of My Tears. He looked handsome in his suit. But that is not the essence of what he wants to be. Some haven't caught on yet.

Also, I have huge expectations, but I try to tell myself that an album like 21 by Adele is the exception rather than the rule. I would LOVE Adam to have the male counterpart to that, but that is one of the best+catchiest albums in the last decade (when you take into account quality plus popularity together). So, loweeerrrrring expectations here. I could do even with a top 5 hit on Top 40 Radio, that'd be fine for me. Of course, but again, this is the kind of thing Adam is saturating himself in right now. He is certainly capable of that level of quality, I believe. And sure, in any creative venture, there are multiple stars that have to align to pull any cohesive work of art off. I wasn't saying that he had to be at "21"s level, but that the success of her album PROVES there is a market for substance and quality and not just autotune and fluff. And actually, Adam can do dance stuff very well. That funkier version of "Kiss & Tell" is awesome. I'm trying to find it, does anyone have it handy? ETA: I don't think I realized this version was a Fonzerelli edit: The original version of "Kiss and Tell" was pulled from YouTube-- I think the bastard record company claimed copyright infringement when they started working on the aborted "Take Two". However, thankfully TheSpindleshay has this version of "Kiss and Tell" posted on her website. You can listen to it here: littleglitterlittleglam.blogspot.com/2010/08/adam-lambert-pre-idol-myspace-songs.htmlIt's the first one on the list (right above the Fonzerelli version). I love this version of the song -- kinda funky.

Chunkey, I loved your post and agree with almost all of it. I would like to point out, though, that I am older than you and LOVE a lot of the pop, hip hop and rap music out today. I love the Rihanna/Eminem collab... "Love the Way You Lie" is a masterpiece, in my opinion. I have so much faith in Adam's taste and instincts. If he does a collab he will insist on quality and it will not be a sell out. I can't even imagine him putting out crap just for the sake of pop chart success.
However, I CAN imagine him collaborating on something fresh, ear wormy, dynamic and totally worthy of Adam Fucking Lambert, his gorgeous voice, and his musical taste.
Adam is smart. I don't think he sees "marketability" as the same as "selling out." And neither do I.

There is only one collaboration for Adam that makes strategic sense to me -- he should do one track for the UK where he is the featured artist on a UK artist's song so it can get on BBC1 as British content.
Other than that, Adam does not need to collaborate with any other vocalists. He went through the Idol game to build awareness and a fanbase, he had 2 Top 40 radio hits -- WWFM and IIHY -- and both were also HAC and AC hits.
Adam has credibility with CHR/Top 40, HAC and AC program directors in North America. Now he just need some great songs and stellar production that works on Urban-Oriented CHR like KISS or that are too popular to ignore.

I think Chunkey's post above sums it up really well. Adam wants to be a Pop star. That means being commercial. Do I think he would record and release a piece of sh*t? No, way! It's Adam F Lambert. myspenser50 and Chunkey Adam is not going to record a "piece of sh*t" - I trust Adam to know and do what's best for him and his career.

My 2 cents... I remember in Adam's very early AI interviews how he said he loved the Divas: GaGa, Beyonce and he mentioned Goldfrapp and Robyn - Adam loves music you can dance too, thats fun, that makes you shake your ass. IMHO, he would have gone much more Pop with his first album if he could have but he had to have some rock/glam rock sensibility on it because rock was predominantly his genre on idol.I hope that Adam's 2nd album has some heart-wrenching contemporary ballads and some kick-ass, 4 on the floor dancey-pop-tunes. Ones to cry and sigh to which showcase his voice, and ones that make him (and us) shake our stuff. Adam loves Pop - look at all his twitter comments - hope he gets to make a pop album thats fun but with some substance - we already know the vocals will be killer. Either way, I already know I'll love it. I agree. I agree with most of you even with people who opposing viewpoints so my head is spinning a little. I'm reminded of Ryan Tedder's comment that Adam could pull off a pop song but he was really a rocker. I think this is true for his live performances, at least with the pop songs he had for FYE. The guy who can sing the phone book couldn't make IIHY or FYE really work when he performed them on TV. The wow factor wasn't there. If Adam was given Firework or California Girl or even one of Gaga's hits would it work for him? Are there some male pop songs we can use? He like Bruno Mars but zzzzzz... that doesn't feel very Adam either. Having said that I would still LOVE to have a dance song of his playing in all the clubs, it would make him so happy. I can see Adel's stuff working for him but he would need some harder songs for his live shows or it wouldn't be Adam. Would the reviews be all "Where's the Glam god we love?" He tends to like to rock out and be dangerous live. The combo of soft and hard seems to work for his live shows. He once said he though he was born in the wrong decade, I'm staring to believe it. How has he not become a basket case trying to navigate what he likes, what he thinks the fans like, what radio likes, what he's best at?????? The fact that he is so talented and COULD do almost anything must make actually making a decision almost impossible. He needs to make five albums, that's the only possible way to please everyone. Sorry so late, but Gelly of course you can quote anything I write here. I'm sure my brilliant rambling will be much in demand.

I DID notice that, mayumi! When she talked about dressing up for the performance, I was like, "Whoa!!" Then when she talked about the give and take and give back between the audience, she had me grinning. Adam chooses well, doesn't he? I love Haley!
