What a horrible week. Am I worried? No, because there isn't anything I can do about it. Plus, I do have faith in WBR (they are not FURCA) being able to work it! How? They can do several things: 1) Ask the Pop stations WTF? 2) Push HAC even more. 3) Let it ride thru February & release TOH in March. March would not be too early for a "summer song." Unless they can get some Top 40 adds this Tuesday, my feeling is they will do #2 and 3. I am wondering whether the advertising for the show in those areas will help somewhat. Radio stations are talking about the show and doing ticket giveaways. I am curious as to whether you think that the late release in mid November did not give it enough time to climb before the holiday freeze? There wasn't much choice though as GT really was hanging in there. Or maybe ALN was just not the ticket for connecting after the total uniqueness of GT. No, I don't think the holidays had anything to do with it. My thoughts right now are that Top 40 radio is so unimaginative, that unless you are Adele, they want the same thing from the artists that the artists just gave. For example, I love Selena's first 3 singles off this album. But they are pretty much the same song! So, after GT, I think Top 40 wanted another dance song! I always knew ALN was more HAC leaning, but thought Top 40 would pick it up too. Maybe they still will. By no means is the song dead. I watch enough other artists' songs to have seen that many flounder getting started, then suddenly take off. But the WBR radio team needs to get busy! I think sales are hurting it too. I would say, pretty much, most of the US has no idea Adam has a 2nd single out. Some TV in February could help. ETA: I have no doubts about there being a 3rd single. Definitely! |

I'm enjoying hearing ALN on Siruis XM The Pulse. I heard it today on the way to work and coming home. I have my fingers crossed that Adam will be one of their Pulse-ating music new this week adds with a higher rotation. It's Twenty-one Pilots and Harry Connick Jr this week and I think the Harry song is a big yawn.

Good HAC update and POP - well, not as much bleeding
So many songs falling above ALN on POP. If we can just keep the jellyfish floating for awhile, this could turn around especially with Adam back in the country.

Maybe not giving up on Pop hope yet. It will move up from 3-5 spots tomorrow, depending on who gets purged. The recurrents might pull 2 of those back into 40. I have wached quite a few songs languish, then take off the past year. And we never can anticipate what a Top 20 position on HAC can do for it! It ain't over til it's over! |

Not hearing ALN at all anymore. I don't think the song was given any push by WBR. Would be nice if it was given some kind of push at HAC at least. IF they are going to try a third single, I would hope they do it sooner rather than later. Sounds harsh, but I wouldn't "waste " too much more time with ALN when it seems pretty clear it is not connecting/gaining any traction.
eta---hate the new Swift song, they are just releasing junk now
