I miss book stores as I used to find new books just browsing around and reading the synopsis or even the 1st chapter. I never really did that in music stores. I like being able to listen to snippets online (or youtubes of the whole song) before I buy. I always felt in music stores that there wasn't any way to know about the music - the album cover might look cool, but I don't judge and album by its cover anymore than I do a book.
Recommendations from others only works so far - take the current love here for Adele - Obviously, I share SOME common taste in music with y'all since we all love Adam's voice, but like someone else here said, I keep trying to like Adele's voice and it just isn't working for me. There is something in the tone that I am not enjoying and the one video that keeps getting recommended, well, I've clicked on it 3 times now over the last few weeks and it just bores me - no spark at all. Rolling in the Deep is OK - I like the song enough that I can overlook that the voice doesn't grab me - but not enough that I've bothered to buy it yet. I've heard it a few times on the radio and enjoyed it - that's it. So, the real point for me is that even if someone at the music shop told me, "hey, if you like Adam you'll probably like Adele - try her album" - I wouldn't have been happy with that purchase. I do like that when people here recommended her, I was able to go listen to some music and decide that she wasn't for me before I spent money on an album I'll never listen to.
Although I really miss having a bookstore to browse (my Borders closed a month or two ago so I don't even have a big-box book store) I am enjoying electronic books far more than I expected. I got a Sony reader a year or two ago and was mostly using it for technical books as it was much easier than keeping great big books around or finding the CD with the user's guide (since they are never printed anymore!). For my birthday in January, my husband bought me a Nook Color and I have started reading fun stuff there. I think part of his reasoning is that my paperbacks take up a LOT of space and I never want to get rid of books (I re-read my favorites frequently). Also, he hates when I pack several books to take on a trip with us - he hates the extra weight in the suitcases. I am starting to actually prefer to read on the Nook which is a surprise as I never thought I would give up paper. It is nice being able to make the fonts bigger, not worry about a bookmark and be able to easily carry it anywhere with me. I can also go online and visit ATop from my Nook if I have a WiFi network available.

I seem to remember that Adam wrote the lyrics himself - am I correct? I love his thoughts and the way he expresses himself, so "Adam writes his own" = music to my ears

Just I thought cause we're all obviously playing here, what if this duet turns out to be in Christina's album? And the duet is great and becomes a hit and that is why Ed doesnt talk about it, cause its a Christina's production and Christina's people have to respond, and this mega hit opens the way for a greater anticipation for Adam's album? And in that way Adam sings with his dream duet but not in his album, and also he's helping his new CD by gaining new fans. OK I decided that this is my theory and I wont change my mind. Christina hasn't started her album yet. Hers will come out way after Adam's.
