It will be interesting to see Cook's first week sales. I've read on other sites (but find it hard to believe) that Cook's fan base is larger than Adam's so his initial sales should give some indication of what to expect for Adam2's first week. In the US only of course as Cook isn't really known abroad afaik. People are saying that with a straight face? He has 231,992 followers on twitter. I like David, he was my favorite Idol before Adam, but I don't believe this for a second. Twitter isn't a specific or even completely reliable way to measure, but still...Kris has more followers than that. I bet I could find similar results if I did a google search for news items. I think they are basing it on his sales from his first album. Which, considering the % decrease in sales each year, for albums, is really not that great a difference in FYE. David is a great guy. I want his album to be successful. Same for Kelly, whose album comes out in early Fall. Hope she has great sales. I think those 2 albums, being successful, can only be a good thing.

I find it interesting the press is asking for Adam to confirm the rumor, not Xtina.
SYTYCD Season 8 Finale should be good timing for Adam. Will Adam appear disloyal to American Idol if he appears on X-Factor? Does it tell us anything about Adam 2 that they are releasing in the Fall and not the Summer? Was there not a summer single?

X-Factor and Idol are the same network. I don't see it as a problem. Plus, SONY is the record label for X-Factor!

I think Kelly has a much better chance at doing well in this current music climate. The females are dominating the charts now. The Telegraph: Lady Gaga, Adele, Rihanna: Only girls allowed With Adele and Lady Gaga dominating the charts, Neil McCormick asks whether male artists will ever reclaim top billing : www.telegraph.co.uk/culture/music/rockandpopfeatures/8551095/Lady-Gaga-Adele-Rihanna-Only-girls-allowed.html"In 2009, there was an emerging consensus in the music business that the future of pop was female. Now it seems there is no denying it. According to Soundscan, an information and sales tracking system in the US, six of the top 10 selling albums this year have been by female artists (Adele, Lady Gaga, Nicki Minaj, Rihanna, Britney Spears and Katy Perry) and seven of the top 10 singles."

I hope they both do well, too. More albums sold is better for everybody. I just get worn out by all the comparisons (not yours- you're just passing it on). Sales are completely different now than they were either David or Kelly's last albums were released, so it makes me roll my eyes when people persist in using those past sales to predict future sales. Both David and Kelly have strong fan bases of their own, and I hope they do well. Adam is not in competition with either of them, in my opinion.

There has been a lot of discussion about Adam needing to have a hit radio song -- and although I think he needs to get some radio support to be successful -- I do not believe that having a Top 10 Radio Song in the US is necessary for an artist to be successful.
Here are the current Top 10 songs on US Radio -- across genres:
Rank Song Artist Genre Peak Producers Writers 1 Rolling In The Deep Adele Blues-rock 1 Paul Epworth Adele, Paul Epworth 2 E.T. Katy Perry Feat. Kanye West Pop, electronic, hip hop 1 Dr. Luke, Ammo, Max Martin Katy Perry, Lukasz Gottwald, Max Martin, Joshua Coleman 3 Just Can't Get Enough The Black Eyed Peas Electro hop 2 will.i.am, DJ Ammo, Rodney "Darkchild" Jerkins The Black Eyed Peas, Joshua Alvarez, Stephen Shadowen, Rodney Jerkins, Julie Frost 4 Give Me Everything Pitbull Hip hop, electro hop, dance pop 4 heading up Afrojack Armando C. Perez (Pitbull}, Nick van de Wall, Shaffer Smith 5 On The Floor Jennifer Lopez Feat. Pitbull Dance-pop, electro-house 5 heading up RedOne Bilal Hajji, Kinda Hamid, Gonzalo Hermosa, Ulises Hermosa, Achraf Janussi, Nadir Khayat, Armando Perez, Geraldo Sandell 6 Till The World Ends Britney Spears Dance-pop, electro-pop 4 Dr. Luke, Max Martin, Billboard Lukasz Gottwald, Alexander Kronlund, Max Martin, Kesha Sebert 7 The Lazy Song Bruno Mars Reggae, R&B 7 heading up The Smeezingtons Bruno Mars, Philip Lawrence, Ari Levine, K'naan 8 The Show Goes On Lupe Fiasco Hip hop 8 heading up Kane Beatz Wasalu Muhammad Jaco, Jonathan Keith Brown 9 Roll Up Wiz Khalifa Hip hop 9 heading up Stargate Cameron Thomaz, Kevin McCall, Mikkel S. Eriksen, Tor Erik Hermansen 10 Look At Me Now Chris Brown Hip hop 7 Diplo, Afrojack, Free School Christopher Brown, Wesley Pentz, Jean Baptiste, Ryan Buendia, Dwayne Carter, Trevor Smith
US radio is dominated by Hip Hop and various forms of electronic dance music (Electro-hop for the most part). Neither of these genres has that much to do with the kind of music that Adam should be doing. I have no interest in hearing Adam's voice synthetically manipulated like Katy Perry's and Britney's on their songs. And J. Lo. vocals are almost completely synthetic.
There are two exceptions on the current Top 10 -- Adele at #1 and Bruno Mars with his latest single. This proves that a vocalist can actually sing, not do a hip-hop or dance track and still have a US Radio hit.
One final note -- there is a wide range of producers and writers with songs on the Top 10. Adam is scheduled to work with Max Martin & Co. who have two songs on the Top 10 and I expect to seen Dr. Luke on this albums credits. He is up there two.
The rest of the producers do not produce pure pop artists with one exception -- RedOne and the Adam+RedOne sessions from FYE didn't end up with any usable demo let alone a song on the album. I would not expect to see Adam work with him again.
